FACULTY EXCELLENCE

Royston Greenwood, a leading expert in organizational and management theory, is one of nine University of Alberta researchers whose work ranks among the most highly cited in the world over the last decade. Greenwood has been on Clarivate’s annual Highly Cited Researchers list seven times in the past eight years. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Alberta School of Business students Ebun Akomolafe, Jasmine Luong, Anna Song and Daniel Herrera for placing third at the University Technology Sydney Global Case Competition earlier this month. Ebun Akomolafe was also awarded the best speaker award.

Congratulations to the University of Alberta team for qualifying for the final round of the Net Impact Case Competition hosted by the Leeds Schools of Business and the University of Colorado. We’re extremely proud of Aabha Sharma, Craig McGimpsey, Joshua Boateng Akom, and Mursal Sahra Fazli for representing the Alberta School of Business at this competition.The team will be travelling to Denver for the final round in March 2022.

Michael Brechtel, ‘06 BCom, is the founder and managing partner at Berlin Communications. Its virtual forest tour Love Alberta Forests —  an interactive virtual forest tour with playful narration by Edmonton’s Nathan Fillion that takes users through Alberta forests at three different lifecycle stages — is among the winners of Communication Arts’ 28th Annual Interactive Competition. Communication Arts, or CommArts, is the world’s largest international trade journal of visual communications.

Ashlyn Bernier, ‘13 MBA, was recognized as the 2021 Woman in Tech of the Year as part of the Start Alberta Tech Awards. Ashlyn earned the recognition for her entrepreneurial success within the tech industry and her lasting impact on Alberta’s ecosystem.

Steven Assen, ‘00 BCom, recently received the CPHR Leader of the Year award at the 2021 CPHR Alberta Excellence Awards.

Congratulations to CEO and founder, Myrna Bittner, '93 MBA, '91 BA, and the team at RWI Synthetics on receiving the United Nations Industrial Development Organization award for "Decarbonizing Urban Environments." The company competed against close to 300 businesses from 71 countries to receive this amazing recognition.

Blindman Brewing took home the silver award for brewery of the year at the 2021 Alberta Beer Awards. The company was also recognized with gold and silver awards in four other categories, and shared brewery support of the year with the Annex Ale Project.
