Student Ambassadors 2012/2013

Nicole Cayanan Nicole Cayanan
Nicole Cayanan is in her fourth year of university, pursuing her Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Finance and a minor in Accounting. Nicole was the co-chair for the 2012 Five Days for the Homeless Campaign, and is currently a director of finance for AIESEC. She is interested in travelling and experiencing other cultures, especially their food. She would like to live somewhere in Europe at least once in her life.  Her past times are reading mystery novels, hanging out with family and friends, going to cafes and exploring new things to do around the city. She hopes to obtain a designation upon graduation and dreams of working with a non-profit organization down the road.

Joyce Chan
Joyce Chan
Joyce Chan is in her third year at the Alberta School of Business, pursuing a Bachelors of Commerce in Marketing and Human Resource Management. She keeps herself involved at the Alberta School of Business through conferences, events and participation in clubs including Enactus as VP Human Resources, the Next Generation Leadership Club as VP Events and AIESEC as a member of the communications portfolio. Planning to study abroad for a term in the near future, Joyce aspires to work abroad in East Asia after graduation. Outside of school, Joyce enjoys playing piano, singing and traveling.
Kyle Brant
Kyle Brant
Kyle Brant is a fourth-year Business Economics and Law major. After graduation, he is considering returning to school to the Combined MBA/JD Program, but until then he's looking for jobs in Project Management. Kyle is the current president of The InterFraternity Council and is a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He is also on the Student Group Granting Committee and the captain of intramural ice hockey and ball hockey teams. When he's not watching hockey, he's probably following his beloved New York Yankees.


Samuel Dean Samuel Dean
Samuel Dean is a Marketing major at the Alberta School of Business. An undergraduate degree in Business is typically a four-year program, but Samuel is broadening his horizons by taking part in a fifth year “victory lap”. The additional time on campus has allowed him to become actively involved in a diverse range of University activities. He is currently Vice President External Relations for the University of Alberta Marketing Association, Unit Manager for Campus Recreation, and has two blogs. One day, Samuel hopes to have his own novel published.
Birkley Doll
Birkley Doll
Birkley Doll is in her fifth year of university, majoring in Finance and minoring in Marketing. Growing up in Beijing, China as a third culture kid, Birkley has a love for travel and new experiences.  She has a passion for entrepreneurship, business ventures, and real estate. In her extra time at school she is able to be actively involved in many clubs and organizations; she is currently Co-Chair for the Network of Empowered Women, VP Executive for University of Alberta Marketing Association, on the case team for ICBC Businesses Strategy Student representative for General Faculty Council, writer for the Wanderer and on the Accounting team for JDC West. Following her studies, Birkley hopes to build a career that will take her around the world while completing her MBA.


 Megan Gauthier  Megan Gauthier is an Accounting major at the Alberta School of Business completing a Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education degree. In addition to academic involvement, she volunteers as a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters Edmonton at their after school drop-in centers. During her spare time, Megan enjoys reading, canoeing, and baking delicious goodies for her friends and family. As well, she speaks three languages and is an avid traveler with her most recent adventure being a nine-day tour of Peru this past May, followed by a summer exchange program in Guayaquil, Ecuador for the entire month of June. She looks forward to enjoying many more amazing experiences through the Alberta School of Business and the Student Ambassador program.
 Behram Gill Behram Gill
Behram Gill is a third year finance major with a minor in international business, and is currently working as a financial services representative for TD Canada Trust. He hopes to pursue a CFA designation and learn more about the finance industry. Behram joined the Student Ambassador program to gain valuable experience and meet industry professionals. Apart from his role in the Student Ambassador program, Behram volunteers with organizations such the Heart and Stroke Foundation, PSA, and various community events in the Edmonton area. He enjoys travelling whenever he gets the opportunity to learn more about various cultures and traditions. Outside of school he is very family oriented, enjoys playing sports, and loves his pets.
Yanyee Kong
Yanyee Kong
Yanyee Kong is in her third year of the Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education program, double majoring in International Business and Marketing. She is currently the Academic Director of the Business Exchange Association, as well as the Intern-Servicing Director of the AIESEC Incoming Exchange portfolio. Experiencing the value of international exposure herself, she loves sharing her passion about thinking and going global! Yanyee will be going on an exchange to Grenoble next winter. Among her friends, she is known to be an avid dancer, a foodie and a yogi!


Stefan Kruhlak

Stefan Kruhlak 
Stefan Kruhlak is a third year Accounting student at the Alberta School of Business, enrolled in the Cooperative Education program. He is a member of various student groups on campus, including the Accounting Club, Business and Beyond Toastmasters Club and the Ukrainian Students’ Society. This past year he was a volunteer at JDC West and the Annual Tax Clinic at the U of A. Off campus he serves as the Treasurer for Alberta CYMK, a Ukrainian Youth Group. Away from school, Stefan enjoys playing hockey, soccer and almost any kind of sport, along with Ukrainian dancing. His future plans are to begin his first Co-op term this coming winter, and to one day become a Chartered Accountant.  


Kurtis Letwin
Kurtis Letwin
Kurtis Letwin is in his last semester at the Alberta School of Business pursuing his Bachelor of Commerce degree, with an Accounting specialization. He’s currently a Research Assistant for the Department of Strategic Management and Organization and a Lab Instructor with the Finance and Statistical Analysis Department at the School of Business. He has also attended a number of conferences and competitions on behalf of the business faculty, most notably the 2012 John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition.


Christopher Leeworthy

Christopher Leeworthy 
Christopher Leeworthy is one semester short of graduating from the Alberta School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Finance. A former TA, and Campus Rec hockey 3rd line “character” player, his focus is on savoring the remainder of his undergraduate career. An avid participant in the University’s Movember campaign, Christopher was also named the Alberta School of Business’ “Man of Movember” for his fundraising successes last year. He is thrilled to represent the school as an ambassador in his final year, and hopes to share the story of his greatly enjoyed university experience.


Anna Leyva

Anna Leyva 
Anna Leyva is in her last year of the Bachelor of Commerce degree, Cooperative Education program majoring in Natural Resources, Energy and Environment. In the past, Anna has been actively involved with the Business Students’ Association, EDGE Business Competition and the Student Ambassador program. This year, Anna is a Co-Chair for the inaugural Network of Empowered Women business conference that will take place in January 2013. Anna’s favorite things to do, aside from spending time with family and friends, include recreational running, reading the news, researching stocks, brushing up on her Spanish and Russian, and learning about other cultures.

Brett Lindquist is a third-year student at the Alberta School of Business pursuing a major in Natural Resources, Energy and Environment and a minor in Business Law. Having just transferred from the University of Victoria, Brett wanted to get involved with the Alberta School of Business right away. In addition to becoming a Student Ambassador, Brett currently volunteers his time to help Dr. Bill Preshing upload extra articles from his book “A Chronicle of Commerce.” He is passionate about the environment and loves spending time in the outdoors playing sports, hiking, and kayaking.

Celia Lo
Celia Lo is in her fourth year of the Bachelor of Commerce program, majoring in Marketing.  She is currently also enrolled in the Entrepreneurship Citation Program at the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension. This coming May, she will be going on an international flagship field trip with the SMORG department that focuses on family business and entrepreneurship in Europe. In her final year of university, she is looking forward to get more involved in a diverse range of activities in her role as a Student Ambassador!
Alex Manolii
Alexander Manolii
Alexander Manolii is a fourth year business student, with a Business Economics and Law Major and a Minor in Human Resources Management. This year, he is the Content Editor for Lazy Faire, the monthly magazine written and designed by BCom students. As well, he is on the University of Alberta ICBC Business Ethics team, the University of Alberta team going to the Eller Competition in Arizona, the BSA Marketing Portfolio, Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec Executive team as Canada West Director, and one of the students that are involved in marking and judging BUS 201. As well, Alex will be part of the TASTE and UAHRMA Mentorship Program, both of which will help him connect with experienced Mentors. Overall, Alex has thoroughly enjoyed his experience at the U of A. With all that being said, Alex is eager to finally graduate and move on to the next phase of his life!

Aileena Minhas
Aileena Minhas
Aileena Minhas is in her last year of the After Degree Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education Program majoring in Human Resources Management. Aileena is very involved with the Alberta School of Business and holds a variety of different roles with many of the associations. Currently some of her commitments include Delegate Relations for the 2012 Alberta Energy Challenge, Vice President External for the 2013 Alberta JDC West Team, Director of Events for the Network of Empowered Women Conference and Co-Captain for the 2012 Alberta School of Business CIBC Run for the Cure Team in which she received the Regional CIBC Leadership award. Previously she was involved with the University of Alberta Human Resources Management Association, the 2012 JDC West Organization Committee and the 5 Days for the Homeless Campaign. Outside of school, Aileena enjoys playing team orientated sports such as soccer, slo-pitch and basketball. Aileena is also a huge advocate for travelling and experiencing other cultures. Aileena has joined the Student Ambassador Program to show off all the valuable opportunities the Alberta School of Business provides and to make valuable connections within the Business Community.


Michelle Ngo
Michelle Ngo
Michelle Ngo is in her third year pursuing a Bilingual Bachelor of Commerce degree. She’s majoring in Marketing with a minor in International business. As a bilingual student, she has been involved in various opportunities at the Alberta School of Business as well as the Campus Saint-Jean. Currently, she is VP External on the Club de Commerce Bilingue (CCB) and a Communications director on the Business Students’ Association (BSA). She has recently finished a Co-op term with Imperial Oil and the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce/Farmers’ Market. Being bilingual has allowed her to represent the St. Albert Farmers’ Market on a French TV episode, Viens voir-ici, which airs this year. Upon graduation she hopes to travel the world while teaching English overseas.

Abisola(Abi) Ojikutu Abisola (Abi) Ojikutu
Abisola (Abi) Ojikutu is in her final semester as an Accounting student in the Co-op program. She loves traveling and has completed a summer exchange program in Lille, France and a co-op placement in Washington D.C. On campus she has been involved with the student group AIESEC International, volunteered for the Annual Tax Clinic, and the U of A Education Abroad office. She is involved in the community by volunteering at Canadian Blood Services as a Donor Ambassador and member of the Speakers Bureau, a group dedicated to speaking up to encourage individuals to donate blood. In her spare time she enjoys watching the performing arts, such as ballets, musical theater, and poetry performances.
Amanda Sawatzky

Amanda Sawatzky 
Amanda Sawatzky is in her fourth year pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Marketing. Amanda enjoys being an involved member of the business community. After participating in the BUEC 444 study tour to China, Amanda is eagerly preparing for further international experience on exchange to Lille, France in January 2013. Amanda is enrolled in the Co-operative Education program and values the opportunity to experiment with various positions. In maintaining a balanced lifestyle, Amanda enjoys being active in sports and the community, and is particularly passionate about the game of soccer. Amanda is determined to get as much out of her degree as she can before she graduates, and would love to share any of her experiences with those interested.


Maher Trad 

Maher Trad 
Maher Trad is in his last year of the Bachelor of Commerce program at the Alberta School of Business, majoring in Finance. Last year, he was on a one-year exchange in Vienna, Austria where he travelled to more than ten countries around Europe and Africa. He represented the U of A in two International Education Fairs in Tunisia and Morocco. He currently volunteers for the Bridges program. He is passionate about languages and markets and plans to move to London, UK by the end of this academic year and be in the heart of the financial sector.

Nicole Volek
Nicole Volek
Nicole Volek is a fourth year Accounting major at the Alberta School of Business. After the completion of her degree, Nicole hopes to attain her CA designation after articling for a few years. Nicole has joined the Student Ambassador program to get more involved and to have the opportunity to make lasting relationships both inside and outside of the Alberta School of Business. Last year she participated in an international exchange to the University of Edinburgh in Scotland through the BEA. Nicole also has a marking position with Accounting 311 and is actively involved with volunteering for Relay for Life and Sustain SU. She also enjoys playing volleyball, photography, traveling, running, and playing guitar in her free time.


 Maryna Vysotski

Maryna Vysotski 

Maryna Vysotski is a Business Economics and Law as well as Human Resource major at the Alberta School of Business. She has a year and a half left to take everything this school has to offer and then some! Maryna is the VP Internal on the Business Students Association, an Academic Director on the Network of Empowered Women conference, a participant in the ICBC case competition, a daughter, a sister, a snowboarder, and a book lover. Most days you will find Maryna on campus studying, socializing and …just being around. In her lifetime Maryna hopes to become a lawyer and travel the world.


Adrian Warchola

Adrian Warchola 
Adrian Warchola is a third year International Business Major with a minor in Marketing. He is also a student in the new Leadership Certificate Program at the Alberta School of Business. Adrian is currently involved in the University of Alberta Marketing Association (UAMA) as Vice President Finance, and is excited to be a part of the Student Ambassador team. He is eager to engage current and prospective business students as well as alumni, and to create connections with leaders in the business community. Outside of the business faculty, Adrian is strongly involved in his Ukrainian community both locally and nationally, and sits on several councils. In his spare time he enjoys playing music in his band, traveling, and enjoying Alberta’s Rocky Mountains.

 Chelsea Williamson  Chelsea Williamson
Chelsea Williamson is a third-year student majoring in Business Economics and Business Law. She is an After-Degree student in the BCom program, following her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. She has been involved with the University of Alberta Dance Team for the last four years and is the Treasurer and Assistant Choreographer for the 2012-2013 season. Outside of school, Chelsea is a proud member of the 2012-2013 Edmonton Eskimo Cheer Team and cannot wait to travel with all the CFL cheer teams to Toronto for the 100th Grey Cup celebrations in November. Once she has completed her After-Degree, Chelsea hopes to gain admission to law school and eventually work for a firm or corporation with a business law focus.

Sasha Yelisyeyev
Sasha Yelisyeyev is a fourth year BCom student pursuing a major in Finance at the Alberta School of Business. Over the past summer, Sasha had the opportunity to work for Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) as a Junior Risk Analyst. Upon graduation Sasha plans to pursue a career in investment management as well as pursue the Masters of Business Administration in Finance.
Yolanda Zhang Wenyi Zhang (Yolanda)
Yolanda Zhang is in her final year of the Bachelor of Commerce Program, at Alberta School of Business, majoring in Accounting. She transferred to the U of A from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in September 2011 and will graduate in April 2013. Yolanda is currently VP Finance for Enactus (formerly known as SIFE), and VP Finance for Organizing Committee, AIESEC National Congress 2013. She also takes an active part in volunteering for various organizations in order to get more involved in the community. Yolanda is now working part-time as an Accounts Payable Clerk at U of A Supply Management Services, and the course manager for an accounting course at Alberta School of Business. She wants to pursue a CA designation after graduation and become a professional in the accounting field.

 

Erik Hansen is third-year Accounting Major. He is looking for ways to get involved with the School of Business, and is excited to join the Student Ambassador Program. Outside of school, Erik is actively involved in sports; playing hockey during the winter, and lacrosse and golf during the spring and summer. During next summer, Erik will be participating in an internship with KPMG Calgary, and hopes to pursue his CA designation upon graduation in 2012.
