 Jessica Ambler

Jessica Ambler
Jessica is in her final semester of her Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education degree and is specializing in Business Economics and Law. She is back on campus following an international exchange at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain and three consecutive co-op placements. She has completed work experience as a junior business officer with the federal department, Western Economic Diversification in addition to working as an analyst at MNP LLP. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys exploring Edmonton’s food scene, cooking and travelling. As she completes her final term at the Alberta School of Business, Jessica values the opportunity to represent the university and spread awareness about the amazing opportunities available to its students.

             
Taylor Banister
Taylor Banister
Taylor is in his fourth and final year of his Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Strategic Management and Organization, and a minor in Accounting. Taylor is an active member of the Alberta School of Business community, currently serving as Co-Chair of the Alberta Not-for-Profit Case Competition, and an Accounting competitor on the U of A’s ICBC team. In addition to Taylor’s various involvements on campus, Taylor recently completed a 3 month internship as an Assurance intern at EY, attending the 2014 International Intern Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, alongside 3000 fellow interns globally. Taylor currently works part-time at CIBC Wood Gundy in the marketing and business development fields. Taylor is thrilled with the opportunity to represent the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador this year, and share some of the experiences he has had during his degree with fellow students, faculty, alumni, and members of the community.
 Nikolina Basic

Nikolina Basic is in her third year of studies at the Alberta School of Business completing her Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education degree. With a major in Accounting and a minor in Finance, she is also planning in pursuing a CPA designation. She joined the Student Ambassador program to share her love for the School of Business, as well as expand her practice of interacting with diverse business professionals. Not only does Nikolina love to network in the business world, but also around the world. She enjoys traveling to various regions; recently she was abroad in the Balkans (Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Greece). It is her passion to learn of various cultures, enriching her understanding of others. 

Brittany Bryce

Brittany is a Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education student pursuing a Human Resource Management major and a Leadership Certificate minor. She is currently Co-Chair of the 50th Anniversary of the Rocky Mountain Business Seminar, which will take place in February 2015. In addition, Brittany is currently the Alberta School of Business Councillor on the University of Alberta's Students' Union, and has previously been involved with the Business Students' Association, Next Generation Leadership Club, Network of Empowered Women, and JDC West . Brittany loves to travel and completed a semester at the U of A's campus in Cortona, Italy in 2012. She is incredibly excited to be a Student Ambassador and hopes to share her passion for all things business with the greater community.

 Keaton Buchberger

Keaton Buchberger
Keaton is a third year Bachelor of Commerce student majoring in Strategic Management and Organization, and minoring in Business Law. He is very active in sports and enjoys the outdoors. Keaton is a Manager of Corporate Relations for AIESEC, and works in research and development for the oilfield equipment manufacturing company Elite Energy Products Ltd. Outside of school, work and sports Keaton is an active volunteer, lately focusing his efforts towards mental health initiatives.

Paul Ellis
Paul is in his fourth and final year of his Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting and a minor in Economics. Over the summer, Paul studied abroad at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. Within the Alberta School of Business, Paul is VP Academic of the Business Finance Association and VP Academic of the Alberta-Not-for-Profit Case Competition. He is also on the 2015 JDC West Finance team and is a member of the University of Alberta's CFA Investment Research Challenge team. Paul is excited to represent the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador.

 David Friedland

David Friedland
David is a fourth year Human Resource Management Major at the University of Alberta School of Business. He brings a passion for learning about people to the School, and a strong desire to excel in the challenging, fast paced business world. David's background in customer relations is extensive and continues to grow, allowing him to bring a unique perspective to the team. He has been involved with the JOEY Restaurant Group, Scotiabank, and various non-profits over the last few years and is always excited to move onto the next big challenge. This year, David is involved with the Business Students' Association as the Conference Director for the Academic Portfolio, JDC West as an HR Team Competitor, and with the School of Retailing Consulting Group as a Junior Partner.

Megan Gauthier

Megan Gauthier
Megan is completing a Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education degree with a major in Human Resources Management and minor in Business Economics and Law. In addition to diverse academic involvement, she volunteers as a Volunteer Registration and Lost & Found Supervisor for the Servus Heritage Festival every summer and has taken various leadership training courses including being a part of the UofA Students’ Union’s Emerging Leaders Program and “Leadership and Service Magic” – a two-day professional development course based on the principles taught at the Disney University. During her spare time, Megan enjoys reading, art journaling, and baking delicious goodies for her friends and family. As well, she speaks three languages and is an avid traveler, with her most recent adventure being an extensive five-week holiday in Scotland this past summer. She looks forward to enjoying many amazing experiences through the Alberta School of Business and the Student Ambassador program.

Amira Hamdon

Amira Hamdon

Amira is currently in her graduating year at the Alberta School of Business as a 5th year student majoring in Natural Resources, Energy and the Environment. She finds the intersection of business and the environment fascinating as there are so many diverse perspectives from which one can analyze many issues relating to natural resources and their management. In this way, her future career goals are to work in this space ranging from government into industry. In the industrial sector she finds the management of stakeholder relations particularly interesting in forestry developments, and oil and gas ventures. If employed by the government she would be interested in working for the Alberta Energy Regulator or the Alberta Department of Sustainable Resource Development to experience policy development first hand.

As a student, she enjoys her time at the University of Alberta participating in many clubs and activities. She is an external director for the Next Generation Leadership Club, a member of the Free the Children club and actively participates in Campus Recreation events such as inner tube water polo, Red Eye Tournament, Campus cup dodgeball amongst others.

Danielle LeGras
Danielle is in her third year of university, pursuing her Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting and a minor in Finance. In addition, she is in the Co-operative Education program, having recently completed her first co-op term with Ernst & Young last winter semester. Currently, Danielle represents the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador and she plans to get involved with the U of A Accounting Club and volunteer in the annual Tax Clinic. Upon graduation Danielle plans to obtain her designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant. She in fluently bilingual and enjoys daring adventures, such as sky-diving.

Lauren is a third year Accounting Major and Natural Resources, Energy, and Environment minor at the Alberta School of Business. She is in the process of completing a degree that includes the Cooperative Education program and is a member of the Leadership Certificate Program. Last spring, Lauren attended the Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. Lauren loves to dance, travel, snowboard, surf, camp and do anything that involves the great outdoors.  Lauren is very proud to be an Alberta School of Business Student Ambassador.

Valerie McKernan

Valerie McKernan

Valerie is an undergraduate student majoring in Marketing at the University of Alberta. Her curiosity for understanding consumer behavior has sparked her passion to study marketing and consumer research. She is currently pursuing a Community Service Learning Certificate, devoting part of her degree towards developing marketing strategies for non-profit organizations in the community. When she isn't busy with school, Valerie stays active by going on snowboarding trips; whether it be trips to the rocky mountains or to a beach, she is eager to take on any travel adventure.

Jenna McLelan
Jenna McLean
Jenna is in her fifth and final year of studies at the Alberta School of Business pursuing her Bachelor of Commerce, Co-op degree. With a major in Accounting and a minor in Business Economics and Law, she hopes to achieve a CPA designation following graduation. She has recently completed a study abroad semester in Vienna, Austria and was fortunate enough to travel Europe for the remainder of the summer. For the 2013-2014 school year Jenna held the VP Logistics position with the Network of Empowered Women and helped in planning a four-day conference at the Chateau Lake Louise. She is very enthusiastic about being a Student Ambassador and sharing her incredible experience at the Alberta School of Business.
Dina Mueller

Dina Mueller
Dina is a third year Bachelor of Commerce student pursuing a major in Finance with an additional focus in the fields of Accounting and Economics. After being involved in various student groups and competing in multiple case competitions in her first year, she developed a passion for the school of business and is excited to share her experiences with others through her tenure as a student ambassador. Dina is also actively engaged in her community and enjoys working particularly with children and youth. Over the past three summers, she had the opportunity to work in partnership with Torchbearers International in customizing and leading conferencing programs for schools, businesses and non-profit organizations. Upon graduation she hopes to complete her Juris Doctor and pursue a career in child advocacy. Apart from school, Dina is an avid tennis player and pianist who is looking forward to spending a semester in Vienna next year and perfecting her German language skills. 
 Richard Ngyen

Richard Nguyen
Richard is in his third year of studies majoring in Accounting and minoring in Business Economics and Law. Richard strives to seize opportunities presented to him and also believes in the power of leveraging your current opportunities to obtain new ones. Richard has used these personal principles to become immensely involved in U of A and community initiatives. At the U of A, Richard acts as the University of Alberta Real Estate Committee's (UARC) Vice-President of External Relations. To date, he has more than tripled the amount of sponsorship commitments for the committee. Richard has also taken advantage of the $500 Student Activity Fund offered by the Business Student's Association to travel to Toronto, Ontario for the University of Waterloo Accounting Conference. Outside of school, you can catch Richard volunteering for the McCauley Community, hiking the beautiful Rockies, exploring exciting places to eat, and traveling to a significant Alberta landmark or UNESCO site.

Elisabeth Okraines

Elisabeth Okrainec
Elisabeth is in her final semester at the Alberta School of Business, majoring in marketing. Elisabeth is a Cooperative Education student, and over the past few years has been able to work with Melcor Developments Ltd., KELLERDENALI Construction, and Cushman & Wakefield Edmonton where she has discovered her passion for retail and real estate. She is planning on pursuing a career in leasing in the retail sector, or with business development for a financial institution. Her current goals include getting an MBA in Luxury Brand Management, obtaining her real estate licence, and working internationally in Dubai or New York. Elisabeth has been involved with various clubs in business, including the Business Students Association, University of Alberta Real Estate Club, and the School of Retailing. When she isn’t studying or networking, Elisabeth likes to go running, do hot yoga, and shop for new dresses!

Olivia Ostrom
Olivia Ostrom
Olivia is in her fourth year of university, pursuing her Bachelor of Commerce, with a Finance major and International Business minor. Olivia is from the U.S. and enjoys giving back to her community, both in Edmonton and the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. Olivia speaks with the International Bridges Program, is a member of several honor societies, and participates in promotions for U of A International. She is a member of the Delta Gamma Women's Fraternity. Olivia continues to pursue her passion for vocal performance and music composition. She is grateful for her scholarships and enjoys competing and participating in many School of Business events.
Lorelaine Parcon

Lorelaine Parcon
Lorelaine is in her final year of studies at the Alberta School of Business with a major in Accounting. She is planning on pursuing her CPA designation upon graduation at one of the largest and top leading accounting firms around the globe. Besides accounting, Lorelaine is also passionate with event planning and giving back to the community. She has been part of numerous university student organizations such as the Business Students' Association, Business Exchange Association, Alberta Energy Challenge, Enactus, AIESEC, Philippine Students' Association and 5 Days for the Homeless. She has also been involved with the Junior Achievement program as an Advisor and mentored 15 students about the importance of entrepreneurship and financial literacy. As an avid traveler and adventurer at heart, Lorelaine recently completed a study exchange in Pamplona, Spain and went backpacking in Europe and Morocco. She will also be travelling to Asia next summer and is more than excited for the adventures and life lessons that will come along with it. She is also an adrenaline junkie and loves skydiving, white-water rafting and is working towards her Scuba Diving Certification.

Sarah Parrotta

Sarah Parrotta
Sarah is a third year student at the Alberta School of Business, studying towards her Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Marketing and a minor in HR Management. Her passion for Marketing led her to join the University of Alberta Marketing Association last year in an Academic Director position, and this year continuing on into the VP of the Academic Portfolio. She is looking to pursue a career in either retail marketing or public relations after graduation next year, but is planning to take time off for travel to new countries all over the world. Outside of school and work, you will find her grabbing coffee with friends and catching up on movies. She is looking forward to sharing her experiences with others and representing the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador this year.

Oshadhi Perera

Oshadhi Perera
Oshadhi is in her final year at the Alberta School of Business completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Human Resource Management and a minor in Accounting. She is currently VP External for the Network of Empowered Women (NEW) and is looking forward to organizing an inspirational conference in January 2015. She has been a part of various student clubs during her undergrad degree as an External Director for Next Generation Leadership Club and director of Incoming Exchange for AIESEC Edmonton. Oshadhi enjoys attending conferences and constantly developing herself personally and professionally. In her spare time she volunteers with the Salvation Army and Kids Help Phone as she attempts giving back to the community as much as possible. She aspires to gain her CHRP designation in the future, travel and take on new challenges. She is grateful for all the opportunities that the School of Business has presented to her and is honoured to represent the School of Business as a Student Ambassador!

 Julia Rudolf

Julia Rudolf
Julia is an Accounting major and Marketing minor in the last year of her Bachelor of Commerce, Co-operative Education degree. She has been an active presence in the School throughout her undergraduate degree. She was VP Public Relations and later a Co-Chair for the Network of Empowered Women, which hosts an annual national conference in Lake Louise, Alberta. She has competed and placed in numerous case competitions, including JDC West, the Asian Business Case Competition, and the Queen's Intercollegiate Case Competition. Julia spent a wonderful semester studying abroad in Vienna, Austria, in early 2014 and is happy to be back on campus for her final year. She is currently a seminar manager for the BUS 201 course and a Senior Partner with the School of Retailing Consulting Group. She has truly enjoyed her time at the School, and hopes to share her passion for the School with others.

Rebecca Scammell

Rebecca Scammell
Rebecca is in her third year pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Marketing and a minor in Retailing and Services. Being a proud Albertan she hopes to get a job in the oil and gas industry. This past summer she worked for the University of Alberta Devonian Botanic Gardens events crew. She worked collectively with a team to coordinate weddings and special events at the garden. Rebecca enjoys volunteering her time for the Study Buddy Program with Edmonton Public Schools and is very excited to be a Student Ambassador this year. In her spare time Rebecca enjoys cooking, scrapbooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  Her favorite place she has travelled to so far is France and she plans to study abroad in the upcoming year. 

 Sumita Sharma

Sumita is in her fourth year of her Bachelor of Commerce Degree pursuing a Strategic Management and Organization major, Business Economics and Law minor. Once she has completed her degree she plans to obtain her CHRP designation, and then work towards her MBA. Over the past 3 years she has worked for the Government of Alberta, and this past summer she worked in the Human Resources department for the Ministry of Infrastructure. Sumita is VP Finance for the University of Alberta Human Resources and Management Association and Logistics Director for the Network of Empowered Women. In her spare time she enjoys hot yoga, and kick boxing, and she tries to travel as often as possible. Sumita is excited for the opportunity to represent the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador!

Kawthara Shire

Kawthara Shire
Kawthara is in her final year at the Alberta School of Business, with a major in Human Resource Management. These past few years Kawthara has been keen to involve herself in the University of Alberta community. For the past two years she has served as president of the Somali Student’s Association where she helped developed programs and fundraising events to further aid the Somali community in Edmonton. This year she is Content Editor for the Alberta School of Business’ reputable magazine Lazy Faire Magazine where her responsibilities include planning, creating, editing and publishing information in collaboration with the Lazy Faire team. She stays involved through conferences, clubs, and volunteering at various events. Upon graduation in April of 2015, she hopes to work and travel internationally. She is delighted to represent the Alberta School of Business as a student ambassador and hopes to share the story of her magnificent university experience with others.

 Crystal Szeto

Crystal Szeto
Crystal is currently in her fourth year of university majoring in Accounting. She has always been actively involved with school activities and during her time in Business participated in various clubs and competitions. Last year she was a Financial Literacy Project Member for ENACTUS University of Alberta. Crystal then continued her ENACTUS journey by representing U of A at the Regional Competition and National Exposition situated in Calgary. She participated in the Integrated Case Competition (2014) where her team made it to finals. This year, Crystal has also become a MIS 311 TA and volunteers to mentor youth in her community. Her favourite past times include swimming, photography and hiking. Crystal looks forward to the upcoming year as a Student Ambassador and the new experiences it will unravel.


Sherylyn Tan


Sherilyn Tan
Sherilyn is in her third year of university, pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce Cooperative Education degree with a Human Resource Management major and Business Law minor. This past summer she gained valuable experience as a Recruitment Specialist at Randstad, and is eager to pursue the upcoming Co-op program opportunities. After attending the 8th Annual U of A Human Resource Management Conference, she became very passionate about getting more involved in extra-curricular activities on campus.  Currently, she is a Teaching Assistant for Management Science 312, VP Conference for the University of Alberta Human Resource Management Association and a volunteer for the Centre for Autism Service Students Association. She is honoured to represent the School of Business and excited to learn more from business professionals. Following her studies, Sherilyn hopes to work within the oil and gas industry and gain the CHRP designation.
 Nancy Te Nancy Te
Nancy is in her fourth year of university pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education degree with a major in accounting and a minor in marketing. Nancy has been actively involved with her community since a young age and has a special interest in entrepreneurship and social responsibility. She is an alumnus of Junior Achievement and AIESEC, and has recently completed her first co-op term at Ernst & Young. Her passion for traveling has sparked her to study abroad in the United Kingdom, travel Asia, and next on her list is to explore all corners of North America. In her leisure time, Nancy appreciates soaking up the culture of Edmonton, especially if it involves anything food related!

Sanchit Vachar
Sanchit Vachhar
Sanchit is in his last year of Bachelor of Commerce Cooperative Education degree majoring in Human Resources. He recently completed an academic exchange in Marseille, France for five months. Since then he only dreams about traveling and thinks about which place to hit next. Besides traveling, to pursue his passion in dancing he is learning hip hop beginners at the university. He hopes to become a professional dancer in the future. In the past, he was involved with student clubs like AIESEC and UAHRMA (University of Alberta Human Resource Management Association). He volunteered as a Director of Human Resources, Special Events member and Co-team Leader for Recruitment with AIESEC. He helped organize the UAHRMA Annual Conference as a Conference Director. He successfully completed his co-op terms with Goodwill and Alberta School of Business working in their respective HR departments. For his final year, he decided to get involved with the Student Ambassador Program to share his experiences and give back to the Alberta School of Business.
 

Andrew West
Andrew is a fourth year Business Economics and Law major, with a minor in International Business. As the School of Business' first representative to Royal Holloway, University of London, Andrew has developed a keen interest in international commerce. To this end, he currently serves as the VP External for the Business Exchange Association, and is a member of the University's Certificate in International Learning program. As a Co Op student, Andrew is looking to gain valuable experience abroad during his final work term this coming summer. Ultimately, his goal is to study law. On a personal note, Andrew loves sports and has coached both hockey and soccer in the community. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys finding new music, binge-watching documentaries, and has a love/hate relationship with the River Valley stairs.

Nicole Wiebe
Nicole is in her fourth year of her Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Marketing and a minor in Family Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. Currently, Nicole is the VP of Events for the Network of Empowered Women and can't wait for the 2015 conference in Banff! Additionally Nicole spends her time staying active and maintaining her fashion blog. She has run in eight half marathons thus far and aspires to one day run in the Nike Women’s Series Half Marathon in San Francisco. In addition to running, she also loves to resistance train, practice yoga, and ride horses. Nicole is excited to make her last academic year the most impactful one yet!

 Janelle Wong Janelle Wong

Janelle is in her fourth year of university, majoring in Finance and minoring in Natural Resources, Energy & The Environment. She is a Co-op student and just completed an 8-month work placement at a small consulting firm in Calgary. For her last Co-op placement, she is planning to participate in an internship program in Washington D.C. Janelle has been involved with the Alberta Energy Challenge for two years and has also participated in JDC West for three years. She is enthusiastic, motivated and enjoys a good challenge, be it academic or extra-curricular and is excited to be a part of the Student Ambassador team! Outside of school, she loves to run, volunteer and spend time with her family and friends. Following her studies, Janelle hopes to build a career that will involve travelling and completion of her MBA.

Ben Wright Ben Wright
Ben is in his fourth and final year of studies at the Alberta School of Business. With a concentration in Finance and a Minor in Business Economics and Law, he looks forward to a career in capital markets, and potentially returning to university to complete a Law degree. Ben is currently working towards his CFA designation, and has completed summer placements at both Lightstream Resources and Co-operators Insurance. Beyond academics, he has served terms as both VP Recruitment and VP Executive at Delta Upsilon Alberta, volunteered for the Business Students Association, and helped organize various fundraisers which have helped benefit The Kidney Foundation of Canada, the ALS Society of Alberta, the DU Global Service Initiative, and more. In his free time he can be found at the University of Alberta gym, participating in numerous intramural sports including hockey, basketball, volleyball, and dodgeball. Ben is excited to travel to Europe and South America upon graduation, and looks forward to what the future may hold.

 

Erik Hansen is third-year Accounting Major. He is looking for ways to get involved with the School of Business, and is excited to join the Student Ambassador Program. Outside of school, Erik is actively involved in sports; playing hockey during the winter, and lacrosse and golf during the spring and summer. During next summer, Erik will be participating in an internship with KPMG Calgary, and hopes to pursue his CA designation upon graduation in 2012.
