Student Ambassadors 2016/2017

 

Chantelle Bryce
As a fourth-year Accounting student, Chantelle is passionate about her involvement in the School of Business community and could not be more excited to be a student ambassador. She has taken on leadership roles in numerous student groups, including positions such as Gala Director on the Business Students’ Association, VP Academic for the inaugural Alberta International Business Competition, has been a Social and Accounting competitor for the Alberta JDC West team. Most recently, she was chosen to be the Co-Chairperson for the 52nd year of the Rocky Mountain Business Seminar. Chantelle has also represented the University of Alberta in several case competitions, the most notable being her second place win at the Royal Roads IUCC. Chantelle is also part of the Cooperative Education Program, having completed work terms at the Alberta Motor Association and KPMG, as well as the Leadership Certificate Program.



Ermin Chow
Ermin is fourth-year year Finance major, with a minor in Accounting. He is pursuing the CFA designation and will be writing the Level I exam this year. He is fascinated with the energy industry and is currently involved in the University of Alberta Energy Club as the VP Finance. Other organizations that he has been a part of during his university years include AIESEC Edmonton, Business Exchange Association, and the General Faculties Council. He is also highly involved in the Edmonton Numismatic Society, serving as a board member and a regular volunteer. Ermin is highly interested in Energy Trading and Marketing, and has worked as an intern at BP Energy's Integrated Supply and Trading business. As an Alberta School of Business Ambassador, he aims to become an effective representative of the school and looks forward serving in this capacity. 


 

Victor Chowdhury
Victor is in his final semester at the Alberta School of Business, set to complete his major in Finance with a minor in Business Economics and Law. As a returning ambassador, he is thrilled to once again be involved in the activities of the Business School and acting as a representative of the Faculty. Originally from Dawson Creek, BC, but currently spending his summers even further north in Whitehorse, Victor has had consecutive summers work experiences in the public sector working for the Yukon Government. He has also been very active on campus throughout the academic year, having served as the VP Finance for the Lister Hall Students' Association, volunteering part time with the Students' Union and currently serving as a co-president with the Financial Literacy Club, also known as the Piggy Bankers. Aside from campus participation, Victor enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing and watching sports, following financial news and discussing politics. Victor is excited to share his wonderful experiences at the School of Business with others, and looks forward to seeing you at the events!


Amy Departo
Amy is in her fourth and final year of her undergraduate degree pursuing a major in Accounting and a minor in Business Economics and Law. An interest in dealing with people has supported her role as a part time accounting clerk at a well-known executive search firm. Amy is an active volunteer with the City of Edmonton in the area of community revitalization. When she isn't busy with school or work she enjoys staying active and can be found partaking in many sporting events on and off campus; whether it be on top of a mountain in the sun or in the snow, she is eager to engage herself in new opportunities. Amy is proud to be an Alberta School of Business Student Ambassador. 


 

Pavan Grewal
Pavan is a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce Cooperative Education student, majoring in Accounting and minoring in Strategic Management and Organization. She currently serves as an Executive member on various campus NGO student groups such as the Breast Cancer Foundation Youth Action Committee and Students for Wishes University of Alberta-in support of Make-A-Wish NA. In addition, Pavan is a Peter Lougheed Leadership Scholar and the VP Academic of the Strategic Management and Organization Club, organizing one of Canada's only undergraduate Negotiation's Competition. This year, she had the opportunity to sit on the Alberta School of Business Board of Advisors as the student-at-large, representing all undergraduate business students. She is excited to carry that forward as a Business Student Ambassador and share her impactful experiences with the greater Alberta School of Business community.  

 

Connor Hastey-Palindat
Connor is a Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education student pursuing an Accounting Major. Accompanying Connor’s education is his extra-curricular involvement with several student groups across campus. He currently serves as the Vice President External for the UAlberta Enactus chapter. In addition, he is involved with the Study Buddy tutoring program and is a mentor through the Business Students Association’s mentorship program. Connor will also be spending the winter term working with a large international public accounting firm. His interests include entrepreneurship and travelling. Having been given several opportunities by the Alberta School of Business, he is excited to become a Student Ambassador and give back while sharing his passion for business and entrepreneurship with the local community.

  Amogh Kadhe
Amogh is currently in his third year at the Alberta School of Business, pursuing a Business Economics and Law major and a Strategic Management and Organization minor. He is also working towards his certificate in Community- Service Learning. Amogh has been involved within the University of Alberta through a number of volunteer opportunities. This year he was a Program Support Team Facilitator with the Week of Welcome and Orientation program through the Students Union. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Gateway Student Journalism Society as a board member as well as the chair of their finance committee. In addition, he has also been involved with the University of Alberta Accounting Club through their tax clinic program where he volunteered as a client coordinator. Amogh is also pursuing a Competent Communicator designation through Toastmasters International with whom he has been actively involved, receiving the Best Speaker award for his 4th Speech. Some of his hobbies include: swimming, playing the piano, and watching Suits. Amogh would like to attend law school after completing his Bachelor of Commerce degree and work as a corporate lawyer in the future. He is extremely excited to be a Student Ambassador and share his enthusiasm and passion for the school of business and the University of Alberta with others.
 

Divleen Kang
Divleen is in her final year of the Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education degree, with a major in Human Resource Management and Marketing minor. She is also a member of the Certificate in International Learning program, is going on an exchange to Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien in Vienna, Austria in her last semester. She aspires for continuous development and is learning her fifth language: German; the toughest one yet! Divleen strongly believes that education and the co-curricular commitments at the University of Alberta School of Business prepare the students for their future. Among volunteering for various programs and clubs across campus, this year Divleen is also representing the school in Queen’s ICBC written case competition as part of the Marketing time. Through her involvement, she has gained valuable insights into many different industries that are of interest to her, and she is inspired to work in a not-for-profit upon graduation. She is truly grateful for all the opportunities available to her and is excited to give back to the Alberta School of Business and share her positive experiences with others through the Student Ambassador Program.


Alexandra Mills is a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce student majoring in International Business with a Certificate in International Learning. Alongside being a Student Ambassador for the Alberta School of Business, Alexandra also represents the University of Alberta as a member of the UAlberta Ambassador Program. Having spent the previous semester studying abroad in France, Alexandra uses this knowledge of student exchanges to help incoming exchange students navigate the School of Business through the Business Exchange Association Buddy Network. More locally, she is also a Business Student’s Association Mentor for first year business students. Alexandra is incredibly excited to begin an internship placement with Pepsico Foods Canada this coming January. This position builds towards her goal of working in the field of International Business Development, with a focus on brand entry into new markets. Returning for her second year of the School of Business Student Ambassador Program, Alexandra hopes to share her passion for the Bachelor of Commerce program and all that it entails with those she meets through this volunteer opportunity. 


Marissa Ng
Marissa is in her fourth year of University pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting and a minor in Strategic Management and Organization. She hopes to obtain her CPA designation following graduation. This past summer, she had the opportunity to go on a volunteer exchange in Taiwan through AIESEC, where she discovered her passion for travelling; leading to her determination to study abroad before graduation. Marissa is currently involved with AIESEC, University of Alberta Swim Club, University of Alberta Dance Marathon and the Next Generation Leadership Club. Aside from her part-time job with the City of Edmonton, she is also a proctor and marker for ACCTG 414, and a TA for MIS 311. Marissa is very excited to be a Student Ambassador and share her experience with others.

Gabriel Nunes
Gabriel is in the final year of his Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Marketing and a minor in International Business. He is also enrolled in the Certificate in International Learning and Cooperative Education programs. He is currently working as a Corporate Project Officer at the headquarters of Western Economic Diversification Canada, a department of the Government of Canada. Gabriel is the President of Enactus University of Alberta, a Writer for Lazy Faire Magazine, and was previously the Academic Director for the Business Exchange Association. He has had the opportunity to represent the school at the Manitoba International Marketing Competition. Furthermore, Gabriel has been able to participate in two study abroad programs: the e3 in Brazil Summer Program and an International Exchange Program in Austria. Some of his interests include marketing, entrepreneurship, urban planning, e-commerce, technology, and travel. Gabriel is extremely excited for this chance to give back to the school through the Student Ambassador Program.
     

 

Oliver Philipp
Oliver is a Bachelor of Commerce student, pursuing a degree in Business Economics and Law. He just completed a five month exchange term in Utrecht, Netherlands, and is currently in his final year at the Alberta School of Business. Oliver is also currently volunteering with the Office of Sustainability, and is on their planning committee for the Student Sustainability Summit in January.  Oliver’s previous involvements at the University of Alberta include the 2015 Five Days for the Homeless Campaign and the Business Students Association. Oliver enjoys long walks on the beach, and is a big Blue Jays fan. This is Oliver’s second year as a Student Ambassador with the Alberta School of Business, and he is looking forward to working with great people, and to great new experiences. 

 

Nuha Soliman

Nuha is excited to be a School of Business Student Ambassador for the second year. She is in her final year at the Alberta School of Business, majoring in Human Resources Management, and minoring in Marketing. Nuha has enjoyed her journey at the School of Business and credits much of that to the different clubs she had been part of. Recently Nuha was Vice President of Events for the Alberta Energy Challenge Executive team. Nuha and her AEC team put on a successful energy competition in the city that involved national and international student delegates. Nuha has a strong passion for Entrepreneurship and is currently a project member for ENACTUS’s Level Up Kenya Workshop. She also believes in community involvement and is the Director of Events for Islamic Relief at the University of Alberta, along with VP Public Outreach for Sponsoring Orphans World Wide. She was the former Director of Grants and Trusts for TeamUp Science at the University of Alberta. She enjoys participating yearly in the University Tax Clinic and assisting students with their taxes. Outside of school Nuha enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering with her younger sister’s soccer team, as well as travelling. Nuha is very excited to be a Student Ambassador and looks forward to sharing the passion she has for the Alberta School of Business with prospective students, as well as Edmonton’s greater business community.  

 

Monika Sharma
Monika is a fourth year commerce student, majoring in Business Economics and Law, minoring in Political Science. She currently serves as an executive on various student groups including the Network of Empowered Women and the Alberta Not for Profit Association. She also writes for Lazy Faire, a student-run publication in the Alberta School of Business. Monika has worked for the Government of Alberta for the past two summers, where she had the opportunity to learn about and contribute to government policy. She is excited to represent her faculty as a student ambassador. 

 

Simona Teodorescu
Simona is a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce student, majoring in Finance and minoring in Economics. She is fascinated with all international aspects of business and the economy. Simona had the opportunity to study a semester abroad in Italy, and hopes to find a career that allows her to continually pursue this passion. Last year she was a Centennial Ambassador, and throughout her degree she has been actively involved in cases and Business Conferences. She enjoys teaching as well, currently instructing the MGTSC 312 Labs. Her hobbies include travelling, hiking, hot yoga, and cooking. Simona is excited to be a student ambassador this year, and to share all the amazing opportunities the BCom program has to offer!

  Tyler Vandermeer
Tyler is currently in his 3rd year of study in the Bachelor of Commerce program majoring in Accounting and minoring in Finance. Tyler’s extra-curricular activities include being a part of the Golden Bears Golf team for the past three years, along with being involved in the community. Other interests include playing hockey, softball and volleyball. Tyler is excited to represent the University of Alberta School of Business through the student ambassador program this year.
  Ishani Vashisht
Ishani is an enthusiastic student at the Alberta School of Business, majoring in Human Resource Management and minoring in Business Economics and Law. In addition to her being a BCom student, she is also a proud scholar at the Peter Lougheed Leadership College. When she is not camped out in Ualberta libraries, you can find her frantically taking pics of anything scenic. She identifies most as being an avid Netflix marathoner and is always open to more TV show recommendations. Post-graduation, she hopes to cultivate her love for travelling by exploring global opportunities. She is humbled by all the opportunities that she is involved with and is eager to represent the Alberta School of Business.
 

Juliet Verbeke

Juliet is a returning Student Ambassador, and is in her final year of her Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education degree with a major in Business Economics and Law and an Accounting minor. She recently completed her co-op terms at Western Economic Diversification. She volunteers with the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and assists with events such as the Snowflake Gala and Wheels for Wellness. She loves to travel, try out new restaurants, and attend Oilers games. Upon graduation, she hopes to work and travel internationally. She is very proud to represent the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador again.

 

  Nelushi Wickramarachchi
Nelushi is in the third year of her Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a major in Human Resource Management and a minor in Psychology.  Upon graduation, she plans to obtain her CHRP designation and utilize her leadership and interpersonal skills in the future as a Human Resources Professional. Nelushi’s hobbies include painting, reading and writing. She is involved in her community and cherishes the experiences of working with children, mentoring them in sports events in the past. She has always been actively involved in sports and school activities, including being an Orientation Leader last year. She is eager to have yet another opportunity to represent the University of Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador and be able to share her university experience with others.

Recently, Karen returned from her Study Abroad Program at University of Leeds. At the School of Business, she is the Teaching Assistant of two Financial Accounting courses. Karen is an avid traveller and enjoys Latin and Swing dancing during her spare time. She is a part of the Swing-Out Edmonton dance club and is participating in the Sizzle and Swing performance team to take her Swing dancing passion to the next level. She is excited to represent the School of Business as a Student Ambassador and hopes to share her experiences with Alumni and prospective Business students.

Outside of school, Erik is actively involved in sports; playing hockey during the winter, and lacrosse and golf during the spring and summer. During next summer, Erik will be participating in an internship with KPMG Calgary, and hopes to pursue his CA designation upon graduation in 2012.
