Ryan is in the final semester of his Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Business Economic and Law. He is currently involved in a variety of extracurricular activities both on and off campus. These include membership on various committees such as the Citizen Advisory Committee with Correctional Services Canada in Edmonton's maximum security prison, as well as the University of Alberta Registrar’s Office Student Advisory Committee. Ryan also volunteers with various on campus initiatives through his role as a mentor with the Alberta School of Business Mentorship Program, with the UAlberta USchool Program, and with the 5 days for the homeless initiative. Further, Ryan has acted as an Alberta School of Business orientation cohort leader, and as a Student Ambassador since fall 2017. In terms of club involvement he is also the VP of Special Events for the University of Alberta Employment Festival. Ryan is passionate about sports and athletics. When he is not on campus studying or volunteering he can often be found around a hockey rink, both playing and working, as he works part time with the City of Edmonton at both hockey rinks and fitness centres. Academically, Ryan is very interested in all facets of both Canadian and international business law, and hopes to work towards gaining admission to law school and one day becoming a lawyer. In the summer of 2018, Ryan also participated on an academic exchange program in Austria, through which he was able to further develop his interests in international business. Ryan is extremely proud to have the opportunity to take on the role of Student Ambassador and represent the Alberta School of Business.
Mursal is an After-Degree Bachelor of Commerce student, majoring in Finance. Mursal has completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a Community Engagement and Service-Learning certificate at the University of Alberta. She represented the University of Alberta as a Student Ambassador at events such as President’s society dinner, Alumni weekend, and Open house. Other organizations that she has been a part of during her university years include Skills Society of Edmonton, Kiwanis Club, and The Canadian blood services. Upon graduating, Mursal felt more drawn to the world of Business and began a career in the banking field. She is pursuing the CFA designation and hopes to write her Level I exam by the end of next year. When she is not busy with school, volunteering or working, you can find her capturing the beauty of Edmonton and the world through her camera lens. Mursal is passionate about photography and travel and loves sharing her experiences through social media. She is proud to represent the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador and hopes to use this opportunity to share her experiences and learn from the Business community.
Sarah is a third year Bachelor of Commerce Cooperative Education student majoring in Strategic Management and Organization, and minoring in Business Economics and Law. Alongside being a Teaching Assistant for Business 201: Introduction to Canadian Business, and leading a social enterprise with Enactus at the University of Alberta, Sarah is part of the Leadership Certificate Program at the Alberta School of Business. While working in workforce development with the City of Edmonton in the summer of 2018, Sarah found her passion for working with people and the community at large. Outside of school, Sarah volunteers on the Board of Directors of the Churchill Society, facilitating debate and speech competitions for high school students. She also teaches speech arts, helping empower young students to become confident speakers and performers. In the upcoming year, Sarah will be starting a cooperative education work term, and she is eager to continue to building a professional skill set. Sarah is thrilled to be representing her faculty as a Student Ambassador and looks forward to sharing insights with others about the fantastic opportunities available at the Alberta School of Business.
Sarah is a third year Accounting major, with a minor in Strategic Management. She is a member of the Business Leadership Certificate Program and will be starting a Co-op term with a large accounting firm this winter. Sarah is an active volunteer with a local not-for profit known as Infinite Woofs Animal Rescue where she is a foster parent for rescued kittens that require a temporary home and care. Sarah is employed at the Grey Nuns Community hospital as a food service worker and this year she is also the teacher’s assistant for both Business Econ 311 and Accounting 311. When she is not working or volunteering, Sarah loves travelling, hiking, reading fiction and spending time with her friends and family. Sarah is excited to be part of the Student ambassador program where she will have a chance to represent the school while having fun and meeting new people!
Dennis is a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce Cooperative Education student, with a major in Operations Management and a minor in Business Law. During his time at the Alberta School of Business he has taken on a variety of leadership positions on student clubs, including Director of Events and Executive Vice President of the University of Alberta Accounting Club, as well as being a competitor on the JDC West Sports team for the past two years. During his spare time, he enjoys travelling, playing a variety of sports, or playing board games with friends. Dennis is extremely excited to be able to represent the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador and to have an opportunity to meet both prospective students and alumni.
Erica is a third year Marketing major, with a minor in Human Resources. She is pursuing a career in either Marketing Communications or Management Consulting. She is highly involved in many student organizations such as the Business Leadership Association where she is the VP Events, Alberta International Business Competition, as well as the Lazy Faire Magazine at the Alberta School of Business. When she is not balancing full-time school, part-time work, business clubs, and volunteering, she enjoys spending her free time trying new things. Whether it be playing squash, going rock-climbing, or trying out studio dance classes, Erica enjoys pushing her boundaries and continuously growing as an individual. She is extremely excited to represent the University of Alberta's School of Business as a 2018/2019 Student Ambassador by highlighting the fantastic work the faculty is doing in shaping tomorrow's leaders.
Lukian is a fourth year co-op student, at the University of Alberta He is majoring and minoring in Finance and Business Economics and Law, respectively. He has always enjoyed being involved in both school and in the community. At the university, Lukian has been involved with many business clubs. He was on the Alberta JDC West Athletics team in both his first and second year in the Alberta School of Business before finally retiring this year. He also held the role of VP Finance for the 2018 Rocky Mountain Business Seminar. This year, he holds the role of Director of Events for the Business Finance Association. All of these positions have allowed him to meet some great people and work closely with incredible executive members. In school, Lukian has really enjoyed his Finance and Business Law classes. Lukian hopes to potentially pursue his CFA designation and work in the banking and capital markets industry. His biggest passion is sports. Growing up he played soccer, volleyball, basketball, golf and hockey. Hockey was his favourite, having played it for over 16 years. In his free time, you can find him either in a basketball court, watching the Oilers or going for walks with his dog. Lukian can’t wait to represent the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador during the upcoming year.
Tyis a third year Bachelor of Commerce Cooperative Education student, majoring in Finance and minoring in Business Law. Ty recently finished an eight-month co-op placement at Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) where she worked alongside the treasury team. Currently she is completing her final Co-op term at RBC Dominion Securities where she works under two portfolio managers. Aside from finance and business, Ty is also very interested in fashion. Last summer she worked in New York City with designer Naeem Kahn as a business intern. Her goal is to one day combine her business knowledge with her love of fashion. In her spare time, Ty enjoys working out, spending time with friends and family, skiing, reading, cooking and Netflix. Ty is very excited to be a student ambassador this year, and looks forward to sharing her positive experience at the Alberta School of Business.
Daniel is a third year Bachelor of Commerce student working towards a Marketing major. Having experienced working at a large corporation this summer, he is very excited to enter the workforce in a few short years. He enjoys involving himself with student organizations such as the SMO Club, eCLUB, and Enactus. Outside of school, Daniel enjoys following sports, esports, and playing the piano. Following graduation, he hopes to pursue a career in the dynamic field of consulting. Daniel cannot wait to represent the school at all the awesome events this year!
Cierra is a third year student in the Alberta School of Business, majoring in Economics and Law. She is excited to be in the Alberta School of Business and now the Student Ambassador Program. Cierra has had numerous opportunities to learn from her classmates as well as network with outside sources. This past summer, she interned at a law firm and a private equity company which gave her great hands on experience. When she is not studying or working, she is dancing. Cierra is entering her fifth year with the Shumka Ukrainian Dancers. She stands on multiple committees and is a board member. In the future, she hopes to continue to dance for as long as possible and pursue a career that relates to International Business.
Anika is a third year Bachelor of Commerce student with a major in Accounting. She has been consistently active throughout her university years with various clubs including but not limited to the Muslim Students Association and currently a mentor with the Alberta School of Business Mentorship Program. Outside of university she volunteers at Misericordia as a Nursing Ambassador, works with Muslim Association of Canada as an administrative assistant of one of their programs, and during her free time loves cooking. This past summer she was a proud part of the WEEL workshop which focused on research she and her classmates did on the Alberta School of Business gender wage gap for recent graduates. Anika is super excited to be representing the Alberta School of Business as a student ambassador and looks forward to sharing her experiences and love for the faculty!
Kiran is a third-year Bachelor of Commerce Cooperative Education student pursuing an Accounting major. Having spent the past summer working for a large non-profit organization, she is passionate about getting involved both in School and in the local community. She is currently a Peter Lougheed Leadership Scholar and volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sister Boys and Girls Club of Canada as a Graduation Big. Her previous campus involvement includes being a Project Member for Enactus University of Alberta, along with volunteering for 5 Days for the Homeless and the Business Students’ Association. She is excited to expand her work experience by starting her first co-op term this winter with a large national accounting firm. She could not be more eager to be a Student Ambassador this year, and share all the wonderful experiences she has had at the Alberta School of Business with others.
Zack is a third year Bachelor of Commerce student majoring in Finance and a minoring in Accounting. He spent the first two years of his undergraduate degree studying at the University of Victoria but is now extremely excited to be attending the Alberta School of Business and even more so to be a part of the Student Ambassador Program to share his stories and passion for everything that the school has to offer. Because this is his first year at the school, Zack is trying to get involved with as many clubs and groups as possible to expand his network and make meaningful connections while he is still in University. Aside from his studies, Zack enjoys playing hockey at the local rink and finds great satisfaction in motorcycling to any interesting spots that he can find and exploring new places. He is also very enthusiastic about the exchange program that the business school offers and is planning to complete a semester in Japan in the Fall of 2019. Zack is looking forward to an exciting year of meeting new people and gaining as many new experiences as he can!
Jenny is in her fourth year of studies, with one more year to go. Her major is in Human Resources with a minor in Accounting. While Jenny is originally from British Columbia, she spent her last summer in Edmonton at a summer internship as an Accounting Clerk, which turned into a part-time job over the school year. Last year, she was involved in UAHRMA as a Director of Events; she enjoyed helping students discover more about HR. When Jenny is not working or studying, you can find her binge watching TV shows or at the gym. She is a lover of all foods especially bakery sweets. She is always looking for new TV shows to watch or places to try. She is excited to represent and be a part of the Alberta School of Business through the Student Ambassador Program. She is looking forward to making new connections, working with good people, and creating and sharing these experiences!
Pearl, also known as Emily, is currently in her fourth year in the Bachelor of Commerce, Cooperative Education degree, with a major in Accounting and a minor in Management Information System. During the past year, Emily was given the opportunity to work with the three levels of government. She currently serves as a member in the Campus food bank and Campus Unicef, where she loves to volunteer and make new connections. Aside from school, Emily currently teaches swimming lessons and first aid, CPR classes. She loves to spend time with her family, eating delicious food and chatting with her friends. She is honored to be representing, once again, the Alberta School of Business as a Student Ambassador.
Landon is a fourth year Accounting major, Finance minor at the Alberta School of Business. He is also in the cooperative education program and has previously completed two work terms, one taking place in Edmonton and the other in his hometown of Red Deer. In the future, he is looking to complete his CPA designation. Landon has been involved in the Accounting Club's tax return clinics as well as other various student groups in addition to playing competitive junior lacrosse. In his spare time, Landon enjoys being active and spending time outdoors. As a Student Ambassador, he is excited to give back to the Alberta School of Business and work to showcase what it has to offer for future students and members of the community.
“Chris” as he likes to be called, is currently a third year Entrepreneurship major with a minor in Operations Management. After completing his undergraduate degree, Chris is looking forward to earning his MBA in International Business. Next year he hopes to spend a semester abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. Around campus Chris can be seen with the University Toastmasters club, where he has been heavily involved in its operations. Outside of school he is an avid hockey fan of the hometown Oilers, and is always up for a conversation about Formula One or Indycar. For the future he would like to be involved in management and team-building as he enjoys collaboration, and is interested in opening up a business consulting firm. Chris is extremely honoured to be a part of the Alberta School of Business Ambassador Program, and he hopes that his enthusiasm will lead others to discover their passion in the world of business.
