Bilingual BCom Admission Requirements

All applicants must complete one year of pre-professional studies in French, in order to apply to the program. This year will generally be completed at Campus Saint-Jean (CSJ) in a program such as Arts or Science.

Applicants can also enrol in another recognized post secondary institutions where they must complete the pre-professional requirements in French. If you have questions about admission to CSJ at the U of A, please consult the Office of the Registrar's website and contact Campus St. Jean.

Applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency and French Language Proficiency as courses are taught in both languages.

Admission Requirements

  1. Students must present a minimum of 24 units of course weight (ucw) in university transferable courses, including the completion of following six courses at CSJ:  
ANGLAIS (6) - Choose two of: ANGL 122, 123, 124 and ANGL 126
ECONOMIE 101 (3) - Introduction à la micro-économie
ECONOMIE 102 (3) - Introduction à la macro-économie
MATHÉMATIQUES 114 (3) Calcul élémentaire
STATISTIQUE 151 (3) - Introduction à la statistique appliquée I

Competitive Grade Point Average (GPA)

The GPA is calculated on the most recent Fall/Winter session (September to April) where a student has completed a minimum of 15 credits. If a student has more than 15 credits, all coursework taken will be used to calculate the GPA. Calculations are based on university transferable courses and will include failed courses taken during the Fall/Winter session. Repeated courses, if previously passed, will not be included in the GPA calculation. The U of A uses a custom 4-point grading scale and GPAs will be converted to that scale.

Admission to the program is competitive and the GPA will vary by year subject to space availability.

Important Post-Secondary Application Deadlines

  • March 1, 2024: Deadline for domestic students to apply for Fall 2024
  • May 1, 2024: Deadline for international students to apply for Fall 2024
  • June 15, 2024: Official Documentation Deadline (Official final post-secondary transcripts, English Language Proficiency verification and other requested documents.) If you are a U of A student, you are not required to submit your U of A transcript.
