International Activities Fund

Student funding is available in several international areas to assist students in participation in international experiences. Subsidies are available in some cases to all students participating, and full support is available for students with demonstrated financial need. Students must apply in most cases to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs for funding. Funding decisions are made by the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs.

Student Exchanges

Students participating in a Fall/Winter International Exchange approved by the Undergraduate Programs Office may be eligible for a subsidy to help defray the costs of the exchange.

Students with demonstrated financial need can apply for funding to support their participation in an exchange. Students must apply using the application form provided on this site. Students must provide financial information to demonstrate financial need as this is the primary criterion on which this funding will be given. Consideration will be given to the differential living costs and costs of travel to the particular destination.

Additional criteria may be whether the student has secured any other funding, whether the destination is a priority destination for the Alberta School of Business and the need to balance the number of students going to any particular destination.     

Study Tours

Study Tours are a very attractive option for students as they combine travel and academic opportunities in a package that requires a shorter time commitment than an exchange. All students participating in an Alberta School of Business Study Tour may be eligible for a subsidy to help defray the costs of the exchange.

In addition, students with demonstrated financial need can apply for funding to support their participation in a Study Tour. Students must apply using the application form provided on this site. Students must provide financial information to demonstrate financial need as this is the primary criterion on which this funding will be given. The maximum award in any case will be the full cost of the Study Tour.

Work Placements/Cooperative Education

Students have the opportunity to work abroad as part of an internship or Co-op work placement. All students participating in international work experiences approved by the Business Career Services Office and the Undergraduate Programs Office are eligible to apply for a subsidy to help defray the costs of the travel and living abroad. Students must apply using the application form provided on this site. Students must provide financial information to demonstrate financial need as this is the primary criterion on which this funding will be given.

Additional criteria may be whether the student has secured any other funding, whether the destination is a priority destination for the Alberta School of Business and the cost of living for the student in this particular destination.

Other Opportunities

Students frequently have opportunities throughout the year to participate in International events, conferences, or other activities, and the Alberta School of Business is committed to supporting those activities. Amounts available to students are variable. Students must apply using the application form provided on this site. Students must provide financial information to demonstrate financial need which is a major criterion on which this funding will be given. Students should also address the issue of how this particular activity will be beneficial to the student and to the Alberta School of Business.
