Important Information for Applicants

Update from the Alberta School of Business in Response to the Impact of Covid-19 on BCom Admissions

We know how hard students and faculty work each semester and recognize the tremendous amount of stress you must be under as a result of COVID-19 and its impact on your studies. We also recognize that you may have questions about the Alberta School of Business' decision to calculate your admission GPA based on the Fall 2019 term. We want to help provide clarity in this time of uncertainty.

Applicants who meet all admission criteria below and present a Fall 2019 term GPA of 2.3 or higher, will be admitted to the BCom program for Fall 2020. Conditional offers for applicants have started and will continue until the end of April. Final offers will be granted upon completion of the Winter 2020 term starting in June.

Admission Criteria:

  • You have completed at least 24 ucw overall by the end of Winter 2020 term
  • Your Fall 2019/Winter 2020 term contains at least 15 ucw overall
  • You pass or received a CR grade in all of the pre-professional courses
  • You receive CR grades in all of your Winter 2020 term courses
  • You had a GPA of a 2.3 or higher on the Fall 2019 term

What if I don't meet this criteria?
If you do not meet one or more of the above criteria, we will still consider your application for admission. Your application will be re-evaluated starting in June to determine if we can offer you admission to the Alberta School of Business.

Note: To treat all applicants equitably, we will base admission decisions on the Fall 2019 term GPA for non-U of A institutions as well, regardless of whether the institution continues to issue letter grades or adopts an alternative grading scheme.

Updated information for students who must meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement but have not yet completed a proficiency exam due to the closure of testing centres, can be found on the university's undergraduate admission website.

While we are unable to provide you with an update on your application status, you can send an email to with any other questions.
