Registration Process for Study Tours

1) Submit a Permission to Participate form

Submit to the Undergraduate Program Office for completion, or make arrangements to meet in-person with a Student Advisor during advising times to complete the form.

In order to receive permission, BUEC 444 must fit your program degree requirements.

If you are in your graduating year, you are still eligible to register in BUEC 444 (subject to fitting program requirements). The course is scheduled for the Winter 2020 term to allow students to graduate in June.

PLEASE NOTE: as these tour dates run in to Spring term, students will NOT be permitted to register in Spring 2020 courses that conflict with the tour dates. Information on Spring/Summer 2020 courses will be available in January.

2) Register in the appropriate Lecture section of BUEC 444

BUEC 444, LEC 850 (Europe) - Course # 81002 - Registration will open on Friday, November 8 at 9 AM in Bear Tracks. If the course is full, please make a registration attempt in the course (in addition to adding your name to the watch list) so that there is a timestamp to show your space in the queue should additional space become available.

BUEC 444, LEC 852 (Japan) - Course # 97789 - Registration will open on Tuesday, November 12 at 12 PM in Bear Tracks. If the course is full, please make a registration attempt in the course (in addition to adding your name to the watch list) so that there is a timestamp to show your space in the queue should additional space become available.

Maximum Unit Load
The maximum course load for the Winter Term is five 3-credit courses. If you are already in five 3-credit courses you must email ugradbus@ualberta.ca and ask to have your maximum term load increased PRIOR to registration opening to allow you to register in a sixth course. Students may take BUEC 444 as a six course or can delete a course after paying the deposit (and confirming registration in BUEC 444) to maintain a registration of five courses in the Winter 2020 term.

Financial Holds
If you have a financial hold of any type (financial, library, parking) on your account you will be blocked from registering for courses in Bear Tracks. Please make sure you clear all holds if you are planning to register. It takes a couple of days for the hold to clear once you have paid it and we are not able to override this restriction.

Dietary Restrictions/Health/Allergies
If you have any serious dietary restrictions, allergies or health concerns please contact Tiantian Yang (Europe, see below) or Mic McCollum (Japan, see below) prior to registering to discuss your options.

3) Pay the confirmation deposit and submit paperwork
