BUEC 488 LEC B1 - Data Science for Business Economics

One of the most common tasks performed by data scientists and data analysts are prediction and machine learning, which are at the core of strategic decision making for organizations. This course is intended to be an introduction to machine learning for non-technical business professionals. The course will cover the basic components of building and applying prediction systems with an emphasis on practical applications. By the end of this course, you will have learned how to: (1) Formulate machine learning solutions to real-world problems; (2) Identify whether the data you have is sufficient for machine learning; (3) Carry a project through various phases including training, evaluation, and deployment.
Prerequisite: BUEC 311 (or ECON 281) and MGTSC 312 (or equivalent).
