FIN 488, LEC A1/B3 - Introduction to Energy Trading

The goal of this course is to introduce students to energy trading. Trading takes place across the energy spectrum of oil, refined products, natural gas, electricity and emissions. The trades can be physical or financial. Students will develop an understanding of commodities, the instruments available for trading, as well as the other aspects that are important, including risk management and regulation. The course will include a virtual trading game where the students will participate in trades and track their profit/loss.

Pre-requisite: FIN 301 and FIN 413. Open to third and fourth year BCom students only.
