MBA and Master's Programs

Internships apply learning from the classroom to the real world and develop skills that will help transition you in your career. In addition to building your resume, internships help you connect with professionals in their field through meeting and networking events and help polish your professionalism and soft skills so critical to success in the world of work. Participating in an internship provides the opportunity to showcase your abilities to a potential employer and builds your professional reputation within the organization as many organizations recruit for permanent positions from their internship talent pool.

Internship Process

Internships in the MBA program at the University of Alberta are four-month in duration starting in May between first and second year. The MBA Career Management supports students through the recruitment process with soft skill development for the recruitment process, review of application packages with the potential interns and staff who connect with industry to promote our program.

Students interested in an internship express their interest at orientation or within the first term. During the mandatory career course and with the help of a coach, students build a strategic networking plan and the skills necessary to be successful in the recruitment process.  Career opportunities can also be sourced through our internal posting systems, Career Connect.  Please note, we do not directly place students into positions, rather we give them the skills to be successful in the application process and teach them how to manage their career for success in the future.
