The Alberta School of Business Building contains classrooms, laboratories, offices, lounges, and meeting rooms. It accommodates faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

The building offers a number of attractive features for the doctoral student including modern study carrels. A behavioural science laboratory offers an observation room as well as video and audio recording equipment and a facility for small group training and research. In addition, a large number of networked computers are located throughout the building. Several microcomputer laboratories with personal computers that can be used in stand-alone mode or as terminals connected to mainframes are also located in the Business Building; one is for the exclusive use of PhD students and has continuously updated hardware and software. Classrooms are wired for computers and equipped with audiovisual equipment.

Computerized databases supported by the Alberta School of Business fall into three major categories: financial markets data, financial statement data, and high frequency data. The financial markets data include daily and monthly stock data from CFMRC (TSE) and CRSP (NYSE,et al.). The CFMRC data also includes daily and monthly stock indices. CRSP includes daily, monthly, quarterly and annual indices and monthly bond data. An Ibbotson monthly index and Schwert long term stock index are also available. Our financial statement data is provided by the Globe and Mail's Report on Business and Standard and Poor's Compustat. Each of these databases contains quarterly and annual financial statements for Canadian and US firms. In addition to these, we have the NBER historical financial statement database and the I/B/E/S historical analyst data. For researchers studying microstructure, we have intraday data covering all transactions on the following exchanges: TSE from 1994 to 2000, NYSE/AMEX from 1983 to 2000, and OEX100 options data from 1986 to 1993.
