Student Consulting

Net Impact Consulting is the primary extra-curricular consulting program open to the students of the Alberta MBA Program (University of Alberta). The Graduate Net Impact Chapter partners with organizations in our local community to use the power of business education to help create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. Our program offers mutual benefits to both partner organizations via pro bono consulting services and to participants through experiential learning.

The Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters (BGCBigs)

BGCBigs is a community-supported organization committed to the healthy development of children, youth and their families by providing safe places, positive relationships, services and opportunities to develop personal strengths and interpersonal skills that enhance their long-term success in life. BGCBigs serves around 5,300 children and youth between the ages of 6 and 24 by providing a variety of mentoring and after school programs.

Outrun the Stigma

Established in 2013 in Calgary, Outrun the Stigma is a student-led volunteer not for profit organization with the mission to increase mental health awareness. It conducts events, marathons, mental health expos and workshops in local communities to bring together students, community members and volunteers for the common cause. Till date, they have more than 4500 participants from Calgary and Edmonton and have raised over $190,000 CAD for mental health organizations in Calgary and Edmonton.

Print Your Mind 3D

Founded in 2014, Print Your Mind 3D wants to build a community of designers, engineers, and makers to work collaboratively in creating solutions to real-world social problems using additive manufacturing technology through their Environmaker initiative. A portion of all sales from Print Your Mind 3D is directly contributed to funding these initiatives around medicine, education, and innovation. Print Your Mind 3D wants to use BCorp to become a more sustainable company aiming for a balance between people, planet and profits.

Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation

Of the more than 170,000 charities and non-profits in Canada, the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation is in an elite group of only 200 accredited by Imagine Canada. Only 27 are designated in Alberta with the Imagine Canada Standards Program In support of the Stollery Children's Hospital, the Foundation advances excellence and transforms children's health by raising money in support of the pursuit of excellence in children's health care, and educating communities. Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation is to embark on $26-million, five-year fundraising campaign to support the Government of Alberta's plan to build a specialized addiction and mental health centre for children and youth that will bear the Stollery name and is projected to open in Edmonton in 2024. The Foundation has pledged a historic $5-million gift to the Mental Health Foundation (MHF), the largest single gift the MHF has ever received, to improve access to addiction and mental health care for youth in Alberta province.

Sustainability Stroll - Edmonton's Downtown

Stroll The downtown stroll is a quick way for new and old students to get in touch with nature, new friends and what Edmonton has to offer. The stroll is a tour of various sustainability features in downtown Edmonton. It is organized by City of Edmonton and tour lasts for around 1.5-2 hours. You will get a chance to visit around 10 places across the downtown and know about their sustainability features.

Dragon's Den

Dragon's Den is the chapter key event for the fall term. During this event, our consulting project sponsors will each pitch their projects to recruit MBA candidates. The event is attend by the sponsor, KPMG representatives, faculty and staff, and student. The event allows students to understand and ask questions about the projects and help them decide with projects to participate. Dragon's Den takes place in the month of September.

Farm2Fork

These premier dining events provide a unique experience for everyone showcasing food, wine and culture that is available locally here in Alberta. We look forward to bringing in local chefs and entertainers as well as guest speakers who share their various experiences in creating a sustainable world.

Speaker Series

This provides an opportunity for students to learn from leaders using their business skills to create positive social change. This is another great opportunity for students to form a socially conscious network amongst their peers and industry professionals. Please stay tune for more information!

Sustainability Career Trek

U of A Net Impact Chapter hosts tours of sustainable organizations in Edmonton. The tour provides the opportunity for students to learn about socially responsible business, non-profit organizations, and other ventures that show a balance of generating return to shareholders and pursuing a social mission.

Clothing SWAP

U of A Net Impact Chapter collaborates with Sustain SU at the U of A to host a clothing swap during the Sustainable Awareness Week.
