Aug 31 - Returning to Campus

As you are likely aware, Alberta’s three research-intensive Universities have developed common return to campus protocols to support the safety of the University community. Included in these protocols are three important components related to our Campus & Community Recreation clients:

31 August 2021

Mask and Distance Requirements

All staff, students, members, and participants are required to wear a non-medical face mask and stay at least 2 metres apart (as much as possible) in public indoor spaces.  Some exceptions are:

  • When actively eating or drinking. Please be mindful of the need to re-mask after eating or drinking and practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands, and/or using hand sanitizer.
  • When actively engaged in physical activity. Masks must be worn when coaching, receiving instruction, resting, awaiting return to activity and when moving about or through a physical activity space, or our recreation facilities;

Vaccinations and Rapid Testing

Starting September 1, all University of Alberta students, staff, and faculty members who are not fully vaccinated, and those who would prefer not to disclose their vaccination status will need to regularly participate in the U of A’s Rapid Testing Program and receive a negative test result before they participate in on-campus activities.

Visitors to the University of Alberta are responsible for monitoring their COVID-19 related wellness at the beginning of the day against the known symptoms using the Alberta Health Daily Checklist.

Stay at home if you are sick

Your health and safety is very important to us. We request anyone who has any COVID-19 symptoms or a positive test to self-isolate. Staying home and taking care of yourself when feeling unwell is important for your health and reduces exposure to others.

Thank you for your continued support in creating a healthy, safe and positive environment to support your recreation needs.

Campus & Community Recreation staff members have been advised to frequently remind our clients of the policies noted above. We kindly request your support in adhering to these policies. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work towards a safe and healthy return to activity.
