Position: Fitness Attendant
Employment Dates: Aug 27, 2023 to Apr 27, 2024
Number of Positions: up to 6
Compensation: $15.39
Benefits: 4% vacation pay, 3.46% stat pay; 1.5 premium
Hours: Minimum of 2 shifts a week (approx. 10 hours a week)

Our mission is to facilitate and deliver leading-edge programs, events, services, and facilities for our community. Join our Fitness Team for the 2023-2024 school year! Reporting to the Fitness, Leisure and Wellness Team Lead and the Fitness Centre Coordinator, the Fitness Attendant will support the fitness centre operations. This includes providing excellent customer service, creating positive patron interactions, assisting with special events, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment and much more!

Position Responsibilities
With guidance and support from the Fitness, Leisure and Wellness Team Lead and Fitness Centre Coordinator, this position will:
Support fitness centre operations
- Perform equipment cleaning and scheduled daily tasks.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Conduct daily opening and closing procedures.
- Enforce fitness centre user guidelines and policy adherence.
Provide exemplary customer service to all members and group fitness participants
- Greet and respond to patron inquiries regarding facility usage, programs, and memberships
- Direct or respond to incoming phone and email inquiries/comments
- Give fitness centre tours and basic fitness equipment orientations for setup and safety guidelines
Support group fitness classes
- Ensure participant and instructor adherence to the program policies and procedures
- Act as a support for attendance and participant requests
- Perform cleaning and scheduled daily tasks
- Perform equipment set up and troubleshooting for stereos and technical components
- Set up and take down support for virtual programs
Responsible for emergency management and environment, health and safety procedures for fitness centres and fitness programs
- Ensure participant and instructor adherence to the program policies and procedures
Other Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team
- Provide day-to-day administrative assistance
- Attend all fitness staff meetings and required training
- Serve as an Ambassador of the Campus & Community Recreation Fitness Team
Qualifications and Expectations
- High School Diploma required
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR Level C with AED training is required; Expiry must not be sooner than 6 months for SFA and 3 months for CPR
- Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications (i.e. Google Apps, Microsoft Word & Excel)
- Experience in Intelligenz software is an asset
- Current AFLCA or CSEP certification an asset
