Benefits: 4% vacation pay, 3.46% stat pay; 1.5 premium

Intramural Sports Programs are sport leagues and special events run by students for students, staff, faculty, and community members. Reporting to the Student-Led Activities Program Supervisor, with direct support from Intramural Sports Programs Recreation Facilitators and Intramural Sports Program Coordinator; the Activity Monitor is a student position responsible for on-the-ground delivery of Intramural Sports Programs, including set-up, take-down, scorekeeping, timekeeping, signing in participants, monitoring activity participation, and risk management.

• Increase knowledge of interactive web-based program management platforms
• Demonstrate a complete understanding of the sport and its rules

Position Responsibilities

• Conduct sport programs in a professional and organized manner
• Represent Campus & Community Recreation as the face for Intramural Sport Programming using excellent customer service skills
• Represent Campus & Community Recreation during Intramural game nights or weekend shifts (4-12 hours per week average, dependant on registration numbers for our programs), and ongoing email communication with fellow Intramural staff
• scorekeeping and/or timekeeping
• providing First Aid as needed
• data and statistics keeping, either electronically or written
• signing in participants
• set-up and take-down of equipment
• Respond to Intramural participant injuries, coordinating first aid response and completing appropriate documentation
• Respond to participant conflicts in accordance with Intramural policies and procedures
• Effectively communicate with Recreation Facilitators and Referees
• Adhere to and implement Campus & Community Recreation policies and procedures in a fair and prudent manner
• Commit to inclusivity and respect for all colleagues and participants

Working Conditions

Physical Demands:

• Assist with set-up and take-down of equipment
• Providing First Aid as needed

Work Environment: 

• Indoor and outdoor environment
• May work in extreme conditions on a limited basis (snow and cold temperatures, sun and hot
  temperatures)
• Noise is expected during game play
• Areas may be slippery (pool deck, ice rink), or muddy (outdoor fields, diamonds) etc.
• Time commitment will be approximately 5-10 hours per week, primarily evenings
  
  

Qualifications/Expectations:

• Must be enrolled (2023-24) as a full-time University of Alberta student
• Be available to work flexible hours including some evenings, occasional weekends, and daytime hours. Statutory holidays will be off as well as (unpaid) vacation requests, where applicable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Knowledge of sport, recreation, wellness programs and/or event management is an asset.
• Current Standard First Aid (within the last 3 years) and CPR C (within the last year) certification.
