Recreation Facility Operator (Casual)

Location: Saville Community Sports Centre

Position Type: Casual/Part Time

The Saville Community Sports Centre is accepting applications for Recreation Facility Operators on a casual basis to work on South Campus.

Rate of Pay: $15.20/hr + 4% vacation pay, 3.46% stat pay, 1.5% Prem pay (for UofA Students)

Skill Acquisition:

  • Develop an enhanced ability to work with a diverse range of clients and colleagues
  • Foster good judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information

Major Duties and Deliverables:

  • Facility and sport surface prep and clean up
  • Event set up and take down
  • Light duty building maintenance
  • Curling ice maintenance

Working Conditions:

  1. Physical Demands: 
    • Assist with set-up and take-down of equipment
    • Lifting, pushing, pulling of equipment
    • Providing First Aid as needed
  2. Work Environment:
    • Indoor and outdoor environment
    • May work in extreme conditions on a limited basis (snow and cold temperatures, sun and hot temperatures).
    • Areas may be slippery (curling ice, pathways, outdoor fields), or muddy (outdoor fields) etc.
    • Time commitment will be approximately 5-16 hours per week, primarily evenings and weekends

Job Specifications:

  1. Education & Prerequisites
    • Current Standard First Aid, CPR Level C and AED training required (no exceptions)
    • Excellent communication skills and professional attitude
    • Desire to work in and learn more about recreational facility maintenance
    • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
    • Experience working within a sports facility is an asset
    • Flexible work hours including evenings and weekends
  1. Compensation
