Looking for a new and exciting school field trip to challenge your students?

ActiveU is a great way to get elementary, middle school, and high school students active and exposes them to the University of Alberta. Our ActiveU Field Trips meet Alberta's physical education curriculum requirements! Being active means health benefits for a lifetime!

Get a full day of activities with our three field trip options: Sport and Recreation; Sport, Recreation and Education; Sport Performance. Field trip options are available for school groups ages 5-7, ages 8-11, and ages 12+ and older.

Field trips run from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. with a half-hour lunch break.

Activities may vary depending on the month and location. ActiveU is offered on North Campus in the Van Vliet Complex and on South Campus at Saville Community Sports Centre.

Field trip requests should be submitted at least 1 month in advance to allow appropriate time for program coordination, permission slip distribution and collection, and invoicing"

Pricing

Field trip costs vary depending on the activities, equipment and instructors required to create the highest quality experience for your students. In general, full day programming ranges from $30.00 to $75.00 per student. If you are interested in a quote, please complete the form below.

Field Trip Options

Sport and Recreation

Our Sport and Recreation option emphasizes having fun while learning different sports and activities! This program is catered to students of all abilities.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in three sport and recreation activities.

Sport Recreation and Education
Our Educational Component Integrates aspects of the K-12 Health Curriculum into Recreational activities. For example, students may talk about the importance of healthy relationships during gameplay, or discuss the importance of proper nutrition to support a healthy lifestyle.
Sport Performance

Our Sport Performance option focuses on healthy athlete development.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in two sport performance activities and one classroom session that focuses on overall athlete development.

Age Groups

5-7 years old

Sport and Recreation – Students have the opportunity to choose activities from:

  • Sportball
  • Obstacle course/relay
  • Fitness and games
  • Aquatics*

*Aquatics is not available at Saville Community Sports Centre.

8-11 years old

Sport and Recreation – Students have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of activities such as:

  • Aquatics*
  • Climbing*
  • Curling**
  • Dance
  • Martial Arts
  • Squash
  • Adapted sports such as goalball
  • and many more!

*Climbing and Aquatics are not available at Saville Community Sport Centre.
**Curling is not available at Van Vliet Complex.

Sport, Recreation and Education – Choose from the wide range of recreational activities included in our Sport and Recreation option. There will also be an educational class provided by the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation.

12+ years old

Sport and Recreation – Students have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of activities such as:

  • Aquatics 
  • Climbing*
  • Curling**
  • Dance
  • Martial Arts
  • Squash
  • Outdoor Beach Volleyball
  • Wallyball
  • Fitness and Resistance Training
  • *Adapted sports such as goalball
  • Nutrition Education (Instructed by a liscensed Dietitian in a classroom setting)
  • and many more!

*Climbing and Aquatics are not available at Saville Community Sport Centre.
**Curling is not available at North Campus.
***Only available at South Campus.
