Find what moves you in our FREE recreation trial classes from September 7 to 10. These trial classes are open to students, staff, and community members.

Register now to secure a spot in our trial classes at activityreg.ualberta.ca.There is no deadline, just register before the start of each trial class to participate. Drop-ins are welcome if space allows.

Japanese Drumming

Learn the fundamentals of the art of Japanese drumming and see why it is popular around the world for its application of mind, body, and spirit. Kumidaiko is the word for ensemble-style Japanese drumming, but in the West, it is commonly known as taiko. Participants will acquire knowledge of Japanese verbal music tradition, the philosophy behind Kumidaiko, the basics of playing and performance, and a taiko song!
