About fifteen students, professors and staff from Campus Saint-Jean gathered at noon on December 6, 2021, at the entrance of Pavillon McMahon, to pay tribute to the 14 victims of the feminicide of December 6, 1989 at Polytechnique Montréal, during this National Day of Remembrance and Action against Violence Against Women.

During this ceremony, Chiara Concini, external vice-president of the Association des Universitaires de la Faculté Saint-Jean (AUFSJ), representing the student body, read out the 14 names of the victims. Dean Pierre-Yves Mocquais then reiterated the importance of the fight against gender-based violence, recalling that in Canada, more than 4 out of 10 women have been victims of violence in their lifetime, and that no community is spared. He also mentioned the most recent initiatives undertaken by the University of Alberta to fight this scourge.

At the end of the ceremony, participants placed 14 white roses at the foot of the sculpture "Trinity" by artist Patrick Jacob, one for each victim of December 6, 1989.

The sculpture "Trinity" pays homage to the victims of December 6, 1989. It was previously installed at the Pavillon Lacerte, but was relocated to the entrance of Pavillon McMahon in order to make it more visible and to remind the Campus Saint-Jean community of its commitment to the fight against gender-based violence.
