The Centre collégial de l'Alberta launches an initiative for recognition of prior learning

05 March 2021

Edmonton - The Centre collégial de l'Alberta (CCA) at the University of Alberta's Campus Saint-Jean is proud to announce an intiative for the recognition of prior learning (RPL). The purpose of this initiative is to allow students with knowledge acquired outside of their studies to receive credit for one or more courses in their program.

Allowing students to accelerate their academic progress with this intiative will help them to access the job market even faster.

- David Caron, studies manager, Centre collégial de l'Alberta

The implementation of this process means that students interested in short-term post-secondary programs, such as the college programs offered by the CCA, will find it easier to return to school. The implementation of the Recognition of Prior Learning better positions the Centre collégial de l'Alberta as an expressway to employment.

All college programs are eligible for RPL. Prospective students may apply for recognition of 1) non-credit training, 2) work experience and 3) personal development. The process to apply for accreditation consists of three steps for each course to be taken by RPL: submitting a form, a theoretical examination and an interview with the evaluation committee. The deadline to submit an application for prior learning assessment and recognition for the fall semester is April 1, 2021.

For more information on this new initiative, please visit the RPL page on CCA website or download the RAC Guide in PDF format (only available in French)
