2023 Science Olympics

Campus Saint-Jean relaunches the Science Olympics for grades 7-9 students from francophone and French immersion students.

20 February 2023

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, Campus Saint-Jean is once again organizing the Science Olympics which will take place on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Campus Saint-Jean (8406 - 91st Street) in Edmonton. We invite students in grades 7 to 9 from francophone and French immersion schools in Alberta to participate. During the day, students will take part in a series of science-based challenges. Compared to a science fair, the event requires little or no advance preparation on the part of students and their teachers.

Each school will be asked to form teams of five students (from the same or different grades) if possible. The registration fee remains at $20 per student this year, which will include two snacks, lunch and cover some of the costs involved in preparing for the event. The registration fee is payable by April 7, 2023 by check payable to the University of Alberta/Campus Saint-Jean or by credit card. No payments will be accepted on the day of the event. The deadline for cancellations is April 12, 2023.

In order to allow for better representation of the invited schools, there will initially be a limit of two teams per school. In March 2023, we will evaluate the possibility of registering a 3rd team per school and contact interested schools. This year we will be able to accommodate a maximum of 180 participants. Transportation will be the responsibility of the school or parents. Activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at approximately 2:30 p.m.

If you would like more information, please contact us by email at olympiades@ualberta.ca. To register one or more teams, please fill out the registration form as soon as possible as we will accept students on a first come, first served basis. The deadline for registration is March 24, 2023 at 4:00 pm!
