Admission Requirements
GENERAL ADMISSION CRITERIA
Applicants to the Early Childhood Education (ECE) programme must meet the following criteria, depending on their situation.
Secondary school students
- Grade 11 in a publicly funded school, or equivalent depending on province or country of origin
- Studying in a French-speaking or French immersion school
- For other students, take the Test de français international
- Candidates with a score of less than 650 on this test must enrol in the French in Education course offered by the Language School, which must be completed in order to obtain the certificate or diploma.
- For other students, take the Test de français international
- Minimum overall average of 65
Mature students aged 21 and over
- Studies :
- Have successfully completed one of the following courses, or the equivalent depending on your province or country of origin, with a minimum mark of 65%:
- French 20-1 or 20-2
- French 20
- French 21
- French Language Arts 20-1 or 20-2
- Studies in a French-speaking or French immersion establishment
- For other students, take the Test de français international
- Candidates with a score of less than 650 on this test must enrol in the French in Education course offered by the Language School, which must be completed in order to obtain the certificate or diploma.
- For other students, take the Test de français international
- Have successfully completed one of the following courses, or the equivalent depending on your province or country of origin, with a minimum mark of 65%:
- Cover letter of approximately one page, including :
- Interest in the profession
- Experience with children
- Availability to complete a programme of study
- Curriculum Vitae
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL APPLICANTS
- Criminal record check
- Deadline: September 1
- Before beginning the program, students must submit a criminal record check and a background check for work with vulnerable persons (VAPV). The existence of a criminal record prevents admission to the programme.
- First Aid Certificate
- Deadline: September 1
- A valid First Aid Certificate is required by the Centre collégial de l'Alberta. Many employers require this certificate for internships, so it is a requirement for access to all placement sites.
