Early Childhood Education

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Early Childhood Education (ÉPE) program must meet the following two requirements:

French

Have successfully completed one of the following courses (or its equivalent in your province or country of origin):

Français 30-1 ou 30-2
French 30
French 31
French language Arts 30-1 or 30-2

Have successfully obtained the following diploma:

Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) level B2

English

Demonstrate English fluency with the successful completion of one of the following courses (or its equivalent in your province or country of origin):

English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2

Have successfully achieved one of the following test scores:

A minimum score of 80 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Internet-Based Test (iBT) and a score of less than 20 on the individual test component.
A minimum score of 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if the test was taken on paper.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): an overall minimum score of 6.5 and the score in any section must not be less than 5.0.
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): a minimum score of 70.
Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): a minimum score of 85.

*Admission with an English deficiency

Applicants to the Centre collégial de l'Alberta are not required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language before being admitted. However, they must demonstrate this proficiency before they can obtain a degree, diploma or certificate from the University of Alberta.
A student who does not have this proficiency at the time of admission must take English as a Second Language (ESL) courses.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Before taking part in the first placement, certain requirements imposed by the province and employers must be met. A list of these additional requirements can be found on the Additional Requirements page. The requirements are the same for the diploma and certificate.
