2019 Bursary Applications Available

There are a few funding sources available to help students attend CILLDI. We strongly encourage you to contact your band's Educational Office or your Treaty/Tribal office for financial assistance in the first instance. However, in case you are an individual who is ineligible for financial assistance there are a few bursary programs for which you might be eligible.

U of A Provost Bursary for CILLDI Students


The University of Alberta's Provost Office assists CILLDI in sponsoring bursaries to support individuals interested in pursuing courses at CILLDI.

The CILLDI Provost bursary will cover the University of Alberta Open Studies application fee, tuition for any two CILLDI courses, and up to $800 for eligible expenses. U of A Provost Bursary applicants must complete the application form and submit it with a letter of support from members of their community (such as an education or culture director, tribal chief or councillor, Métis chair/president, tribal college personnel, Elder).

Note: These bursaries do not cover travel costs. Only a limited number of these bursaries are available.

Deadline: Wednesday, March 20, 2019

Alberta Education Bursary for Indigenous Language Education


This bursary program is funded by the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) Education Division, Alberta Education, Government of Alberta, and will support individuals pursuing up to six 3-credit Elementary Education (EDEL) courses offered by the Department of Education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta in partnership with CILLDI.
Applicants must:

- be residents of Alberta

- submit a completed application

- submit a letter of support from a member of their community


For summer 2019, the Alberta Education ILE bursary will cover the University of Alberta Open Studies application fee, tuition for two CILLDI courses, and up to $800 for eligible expenses.
