Oksana Yurkova | The Mykhailo Hrushevsky Digital Archives: Project, Achievements, Tasks, and Cooperation

The Mykhailo Hrushevsky Digital Archives is a unique and ambitious project of making a scholarly open access web-site devoted to Hrushevsky's legacy. Its aim is to collect all Hrushevsky's works and documents and all works and documents about Hrushevsky in one place. The project's goal is to promote knowledge of Ukrainian history and Ukrainian historiography worldwide.
The web-site initiated its work in September 2016 on the eve of the 150th anniversary of Hrushevsky's birth thanks to the support of the Peter Jacyk Centre for Ukrainian Historical Research of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, the University of Alberta. The project is now in its fourth year of existence. The project leader Oksana Yurkova will speak about its distinctive features and demonstrate the opportunity it offers in studying not only Hrushevsky's life and activity, but the entirety of Ukrainian history and historiography.
Dr. OKSANA YURKOVA is a leading researcher at the Institute of History of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in Kyiv, Ukraine. She studies Ukrainian historiography of the 20th century, especially focusing on the interwar period (1920s-1930s), the Ukrainian historian Mykhailo Hrushevsky and his Kyiv historical school, as well as the activity of Ukrainian historical institutions of that period; iconography; anthropology of academic life; and electronic information resources. In 2019 the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies awarded her the Kolasky Visiting Research Fellowship in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Education, and Library Sciences 2019-2020. Based in Toronto she works on the project "Canadian Sources for the Mykhailo Hrushevsky Digital Archives".
