CIUS Funding and Awards Opportunities 2020-2021

Travel Grants

CIUS has designated funds from the Dr. Ivan Iwanciw and Dr. Myroslawa Mysko-Iwanciw Endowment Fund for the purpose of travel to Ukraine

Scholars affiliated with the University of Alberta may apply by 1 March 2020 for support to travel for an academic pursuit in Ukraine (CIUS-affiliated scholars are not eligible). Examples include presenting a paper at a conference, participating in a workshop, working with scholarly associations in Ukraine, or conducting fieldwork or research in an archive. Preference will be given to projects within the area of Ukrainian studies.

The letter of application should include a budget and details about the academic activity. The grant will cover properly documented costs such as airfare, conference registration fees, accommodation, personal maintenance, research expenses associated with the reproduction of sources (e.g., photocopying), and travel within Ukraine. Please specify any other sources of support that will be received or for which an application has been or will be made.

The amount of any grant will not exceed $2,500. The number of grants and size approved will depend on the number of applications received and considered, and on the available funds in the CIUS budget.

Letters of application can be sent by email to: ciusappl@ualberta.ca

Deadline: March 1
