Announcement: 2016 Holodomor Grants Competition

The Holodomor Research and Education Consortium (HREC) announces its 2016 grants competition to support research, preservation and publication of materials, as well as organization of and participation in conferences and workshops related to the Holodomor (the Famine of 1932-33 in Ukraine). Grants will not exceed $6000.00 Canadian. The average grant will be in the $1000-$2000 range.

Applications will be accepted in English, French or Ukrainian.

Please send the following materials, using "Grants Competition" in subject line, to hrec@ualberta.ca :

  1. c.v. (including list of published works, if any)
  2. Proposal (2-3 double-spaced pages), outlining purpose, methods and significance of the proposed project. The proposal should discuss the existing literature on the topic and how the project will add to our knowledge.
  3. Budget outlining how proposed funding will be used.
  4. Letter of recommendation, preferably from academic supervisor or head of department.

Deadline for submission: March 1, 2016

Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the competition by March 25, 2016.

HREC is a project of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, University of Alberta. HREC promotes research on the Holodomor and works to ensure that the man-made famine of 1932-33 in Ukraine is represented in curricula.
