On 14 July 2016 Drs. Volodymyr Kravchenko,. Bohdan Klid, Zenon Kohut, Serge Cipko, along with Jars Balan and Steven Bello, celebrated the 72nd wedding anniversary of the well-known educational philanthropists, Peter and Doris Kule, generous benefactors of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies. Jars Balan, as the coordinator of the Kule Ukrainian Canadian Studies Centre at the CIUS- established in 2006 thanks to two endowments created with a $1 million donation by the Kules-formally greeted the couple on behalf of the Institute.
Peter and Doris Kule were married on 14 July 1944 at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Willingdon, Alberta, after which their reception was held in the Narodnyi Dim in the neighbouring hamlet of Hairy Hill. At a lunch held in their honour at the University of Alberta's Faculty Club, they were presented with 72 roses, one for each year of their married life together. Mnohaia lita, Peter and Doris!
