Michael Kowalsky and Daria Mucak- Kowalsky Graduate Scholarship

Offered to graduate students enrolled in M.A., candidate's, Ph.D., or other advanced degree programs in the following institutions in Ukraine and Canada.

  1. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Vasyl Stefanyk Ciscarpathian National University in Ivano-Frankivsk, and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The scholarships at these institutions will be offered to students in Ukrainian studies and in international relations, political science, history, cultural studies, economics, sociology, and psychology.
  2. Faculty of Philology, Kyiv Shevchenko National University. Scholarships will be offered to students engaged in the study of Ukrainian language and literature. (Preference will be given to students from the Crimea, and eastern and southern Ukraine.)
  3. Any university in Canada, especially the University of Alberta, for students enrolled in Ukrainian studies.
  4. Any university in Canada, especially the University of Alberta, primarily for students engaged in research in Ukrainian language, literature, history, international relations, and political science.

Amount: $1,000.00 for each scholarship awarded to graduate students in Ukraine and $2,500.00 for one scholarship awarded to a graduate student in Canada.

To apply, please submit official transcripts (include each post-secondary educational institution attended), a CV, a thesis proposal, a written work sample (published or unpublished), and arrange for two letters of reference from faculty members at the applicant's current institution to be sent, to: ciusappl@ualberta.ca.
