Cancer Discoveries: Molecules to Man (Public Lecture) - Dr. Dennis Slamon
Tuesday, May 24th from 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Please join the University of Alberta in this celebration of how scientific inquiry has transformed the understanding, treatment, detection and prevention of cancer. Our visiting speaker, Dr. Dennis Slamon, is an internationally known cancer researcher from the University of California, Los Angeles, who will speak about:
“New and Novel Approaches to Breast Cancer”
Dr. Slamon is one of the pioneers of the breast cancer drug Herceptin, which was clinically tested in humans right here in Edmonton. Herceptin saved the lives of 600 Albertans to date—a number that grows by 60 each year. We are honored to host this lecture for the public. Dr. Slamon’s talk will be followed by a brief question and answer period and everyone is welcome to attend.
