Terms of Reference

Purpose:
The Advisory Committee to the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a consultative committee. The purpose of this Advisory Committee is to provide recommendations to the Academic Director.

Terms of Reference
The Advisory Committee is responsible for making recommendations on the following matters:

1) Teaching support services that are multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary

2) Facilitation of university‐wide educational leadership

  • Communication of effective teaching practices and celebration of successes
  • Building relationships, cultivating dialogue, profiling excellence in teaching, engaging the University community

3) Teaching and learning contexts and support needs of instructors and programs across the institution

4) Identification of elements for instructor and student success

  • Evidence‐based priorities, challenges and possibilities
  • Access, retention, program completion
  • Integrating active pedagogies and reinvigorating teaching practices

5) Facilitation of the integration of discovery learning, technology and citizenship

6) Promotion of the integration of teaching and research

7) Energize enthusiasm for teaching and learning

Composition
Chair: Director, Centre for Teaching and Learning
Members: Vice Provost (Learning Initiatives), CTL Associate Directors, Deans or Deans' delegates, Library representative, Students' Union (SU) representative, Graduate Students' Association representative (GSA)

Meetings
The Advisory Committee will meet at least two times per year during the academic year.
