Join members of the Alberta OER (Open Educational Resources) Community of Practice four online sessions spanning topics of policy, pedagogy, technology, and copyright.

The Centre for Teaching and Learning, the Copyright Office, and Faculty of Education is pleased to partner on an online summit occurring days prior to the national ABC Copyright Conference. We aim to bring together the Alberta OER Community of Practice and ABC Conference attendees from across Canada to generate rich discussion of open education and explore the intersection of their professions in post-secondary education.

Amanda Coolidge, Director of Open Education at BCcampus, will join us for a live discussion period to follow her pre-recorded keynote sharing examples from BC post-secondary specific to the use of OER and open pedagogy to navigate teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When do librarians and instructors need to ask permission to use someone else’s images, text, or video in new OER? UA's Copyright Librarian Amanda wakaruk will provide an overview of key copyright considerations and compatible Creative Commons licensing and answer your questions.

Keynote Bio:

Keynote: Amanda Coolidge, Director of Open Education at BCcampus Amanda leads the BC Open Textbook Project as well as the Open Education initiatives in the province of British Columbia, Canada. The BCcampus Open Education team produces Open Educational Resources (OER) – textbooks, toolkits, and other learning materials – in collaboration with the B.C. post-secondary system. Amanda has a background in Educational Technology and Instructional Design. Prior to working in the British Columbia Post-Secondary Sector, Amanda was the Senior Educational Technologist on the TESSA (Teacher Education in Sub Saharan Africa) project, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
