Dr. Sanders specializes in technology development for oil sand extraction processes, operations’ support and process efficiency improvements. He has extended industry experience, including overseeing all process engineering decisions related to fixed plant operation and bitumen recovery optimization at Syncrude’s Aurora facility. He also served as Principal Investigator for numerous large-scale R&D projects, including Multiphase Pipeline Flows, Bitumen Aeration and Recovery, Tailings Placement. His current research focuses on experimental investigations of multiphase flow systems. Theoretical and numerical analyses are used to frame experimental studies in solid-liquid slurry flows, liquid-liquid flows and gas-liquid flows.
