If you are looking for an exciting international experience in China, this UofA spring 2011 course at Zhejiang University is for you!

You will have the opportunity to spend one month in China and gain first hand experiences of Chinese culture, language, economy and society.

You will learn enhanced knowledge of Chinese cultures and values through direct interactions; you will gain sophisticated understanding of Chinese society and economy, including the higher education sector; you will have direct experience through interaction with staff and students at one of the top three Chinese universities in your academic major; you will also pay corporate visits related to your field of interest.

Course Details:
• Spring 2011: Experience China from Within - REN R 401
• The objective of the course is for students to acquire a base of knowledge and experience with Chinese culture and society to effectively communicate with Chinese counterparts. This will also build the foundation for students who may potentially pursue further activities with Chinese individuals and institutions
• pre/co-requisite: consent of the instructor

General Introduction
• This course is open to all senior undergraduates in all faculties. The course is designed to help students build their knowledge of and experience with China and its people through engagements within China's cultural, social, educational and business fabrics. Each student will also be paired for one week with a home Chinese department of his/her choice to gain insights into the student's academic major

Accommodation and Travel
• Students will be in private dormitory rooms at Zhejiang University
• Air travel to China is included, as well as all transportation within China (buses, trains, drivers)

Anticipated Costs
• Total cost including U of A tuition fees, accommodation, meals, airfare, visa, local registration fees, ground transportation and excursions is $4,650

Deadlines
• Application (January 14, 2011 with $500 non-refundable deposit)
• Registration (February 4, 2011)
