Envisioning China: Public Lectures

The China Institute and the Department of East Asian Studies invites you to Envisioning China: Public Lectures featuring renowned Canadian and international scholars in China Studies.

The first event will feature a book talk by Dr. Paul Evans, Professor of Asian and trans-Pacific international relations at the University of British Columbia, former director of the Institute of Asian Research and CEO Emeritus of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, on his book Engaging China, Myth, Aspiration and Strategy in Canadian Policy from Trudeau to Harper (University of Toronto Press, 2014).

The second event will feature a panel discussion on "China as a Global Power: Does the Past Still Matter?" by three established China scholars: Dr. Joseph Wong, Professor in the Department of Political Science and Director of the University of Toronto's Asian Institute at the Munk School, Dr. Timothy Brook, Professor in the Department of History and Institute of Asian Research at the University of British Columbia, and Dr. John Fitzgerald, Director of the Asia-Pacific Centre for Social Impact & Philanthropy at Swinburne University of Technology.
