Corbett Aphasia Rehabilitation and Education (CARE)

WHAT IS CARE?
- The Corbett Aphasia Rehabilitation and Education (CARE) program is for people with aphasia and their families to access speech and language therapy and to connect with each other.
- CARE started offering programming in January 2021.
- CARE uses the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA) to help members increase participation and re-engage in life.
WHO?
- CARE is overseen by Esther Kim and Andrea Ruelling, both Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department at the University of Alberta.
- Working alongside them, will be SLP students in clinical placements.
WHEN?
- CARE runs groups year round with a summer break in July and August.
- Registered groups run for 11 weeks.
WHERE?

Services are provided online and in person.
Spring/Summer 2023 CARE program
- Groups will be offered on Thursdays and Fridays
- Groups will begin April 13, 2023 and end June 23, 2023

Group Descriptions
Please note that only a selection of the following groups will be run per session block.
- The cost is based on the number of groups you attend.
- Each group costs $200*
- The cost is for 11 weeks of programming.
- Each CARE member can register for up to 2 groups** (group size is limited to 6 - 8 clients)
*Clients who cannot afford this and can demonstrate a need for support can apply for subsidized funding through the Corbett Clinic Client Assistance Fund.
**Registration is not guaranteed until confirmed via email.
- If interested in attending groups running in Spring/Summer 2023 (April 13 - June 23, 2023), please register by April 4, 2023.
- Self referrals are welcome.
- SLP (and other professional) referrals are welcome.
- If you have reports (i.e., medical reports, SLP assessment/treatment reports) these can be sent via fax (780-492-9333) or as an encrypted document via email to csdcc@ualberta.ca
