Accomplishments

Our students and faculty are pioneers in research and education. Our Department is one of the oldest in Canada, and through the years we have celebrated great accomplishments, and continue to do so:

  • Our poker program, Poki, is one of the best-selling poker programs in the world
  • Our checkers program, Chinook, won the world man-machine checkers championship, the first program to win a human world championship in any game (a feat recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records)
  • Our researchers won two of the three International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) Distinguished Paper awards, one of the top awards in artificial intelligence

Credentials

Our undergraduate program is regularly evaluated against the evolving standards for computing science curriculum set by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
