Program Outline

The following is a general timeline for the SIP work experience program. See the SIP page for further details.

Year 1
  • Complete your introductory courses
Year 2
  • Attend an SIP information session on TBA
  • Complete your courses
Year 3
  • Attend SIP Information Session in September
  • Apply to SIP by deadline indicated on CS website
  • Search for jobs through our job postings or other means
  • Submit your resume and cover letter to employers as indicated on the SIP job posting website
  • Conduct interviews
  • Accept a job offer and inform SIP (Computing Science) of your decision
  • Sign a formal letter of employment from the company
  • SIP automatically registers you in the necessary work experience courses depending on the length of your SIP placement: WKEXP 955 (1st term), 956 (2nd term), 957 (3rd term) and 958 (4th term).
  • Complete your courses
  • Work at your internship placement, starting in January, May or September
  • Meet with your employer for a progress review once you complete the 3-month probationary period
  • Meet with the SIP Director (Computing Science) during the on-site visit
  • Your employer completes your final evalulation at the end of your placement
  • Students enroll in INT D 400 in their next academic term
