COVID-19 Campus Safety Tips

We’re closely following public health guidance, and we need to work together to minimize risks. It continues to be important for students, faculty, staff and visitors to follow personal health measures on our campuses.

Below is safety checklist that highlights the steps we can each take to protect our campus and support our community, together.

As throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the information included here is subject to change according to provincial or institutional safety measures.

Boost your protection

In Alberta, everyone 18 years+ can get a fourth dose COVID-19 vaccination 5 months after their third dose. Book online, call 811, or visit a walk-in clinic.

Do a daily health check

If you’re feeling sick — with COVID-19 or other communicable symptoms — stay home, notify your supervisor or instructor, and follow public health advice.

Use a mask

Face masks are not required, but are strongly recommended on U of A campuses — especially in instructional spaces, indoor high-traffic and high-capacity areas. Various campus locations will have free masks available.

Be patient

Don’t overcrowd shared or enclosed spaces like elevators, washrooms, and hallways.

Many of the lessons of the past few years continue to be valuable and will drive how we each make personal decisions to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. With this in mind, university community members are asked to respect the personal health decisions of those around them.

Visitors to all U of A facilities are responsible for monitoring their health for COVID-19 related symptoms; they’re asked to use the COVID-19 Assessment for Albertans prior to visiting our campuses. Any visitors who feel unwell should not attend campus and are asked to stay home; should they feel unwell after coming to our campuses, we ask that they please leave immediately.

While on the U of A’s campuses, visitors are required to follow all safety guidelines.

Masks are strongly recommended in high-traffic and high-occupancy areas and when working in close proximity to others. As masks will be worn based on personal preference, it is important for all community members to contribute to a respectful work and learning environment.

We thank everyone for doing their part to help keep our community safe.
