Student Accommodation Steps - Spring/Summer 2023

Updated: May 5, 2023

Please review the information below for details of the student accommodation procedures for Spring/Summer 2023. Learn more about Exam Accommodations and Accommodation Processes and Delivery, including roles and responsibilities for remote, in-person, and blended accommodation contexts.

  • Activate your accommodations for each of your classes as soon as you receive your course outline(s) to ensure your instructors are aware of your accommodations.
    • Select the Activate Accommodation + Letter Download icon in the ClockWork  Online Student Services portal.
    • Save a copy of your Letter(s) of Accommodation for your reference.
    • Contact your course instructor(s) early to discuss your accommodations, as required.
  • Register ALL eligible exams (including quizzes, tests, midterms, and finals) as soon as you receive your course outlines. This includes exams that are administered remotely, administered by your instructor, as well as those written in the Learning Assessment Centre (LAC).
    • Select the Register an Exam icon in the ClockWork Online Student Services portal
    • At all times exams must be registered at least seven (7) full days before the date of the exam.
    • It is probably easier to think of this as 8 days because ClockWork defines a full day as beginning at 12:00 a.m. and ending at 11:59 p.m. (Mountain time). For example, to register an exam scheduled for October 25, you must submit your request by 11:59 p.m. (Mountain Time) on October 17.
    • During Fall and Winter terms, there is a hard deadline after which no accommodated exam registrations may be requested. Locate the hard deadline on the Register an Exam page of ClockWork’s Online Student Services portal.
    • During Spring and Summer terms, accommodated exam registrations are governed only by the rolling 8 (7 full-day) deadline.
  • Confirm details of your exam including proctored location with your instructor.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Register your exams as soon as you receive your course outlines (even if their dates remain tentative) as organizing exam accommodations can take considerable time. Register NOW!
  • Please promptly email arrec@ualberta.ca if you have exams in the first week of classes or need to revise or cancel your exam registration.
