Advanced Gastroenterology Fellowship Programs

The Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Alberta is pleased to offer advanced Gastroenterology clinical training in the following areas:

  • Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy (ERCP, EUS, small bowel endoscopy)
  • Hepatology/Liver Transplantation
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Nutrition
  • Motility

Advanced gastroenterology fellowships are designed for trainees that have completed their core gastroenterology training, but are looking for additional training in a specific gastroenterology subspecialty. Fellows are fully integrated into the Division of Gastroenterology and are expected to be an active member in the GI Division. This includes attendance at GI Monday Rounds, Tuesday Research Rounds, and City-wide Journal Club. Fellows will be expected to present at GI Monday Rounds, participate in GI Research Day, and teach medical students during the GI Block. Fellows will also be required to participate in GI Weekend Call (maximum 4 weekends per year).

All postgraduate medical fellows need to be registered with the University of Alberta Postgraduate Medical Education (PME) office and are subject to the rules set forth by the PME.
