Subspecialty Training Program in Infectious Diseases 

Division members are engaged in educational activities at all levels of training, including Undergraduate Medical Education, Postgraduate Medical Education, and Continuing Professional Development. For their specific educational interests, please see individual Division Members' profiles.

Selected activities include:

Undergraduate Education

Undergraduate courses to which Division Members make a significant contribution include MMI 240; DMED 512; DMED 514; NURS 560; and medical student OSCE Examinations.

Resident Training

Division members are heavily invested in the training of residents in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and Medical Microbiology, as well as residents who are seconded to Internal Medicine, such as those in Dermatology, Occupational Medicine and Neurology. Training consists of regularly scheduled didactic sessions, bedside clinical teaching on the hospital consulting services and outpatient clinics.

Other Postgraduate Education

Several Division members are involved with the supervision of MSc and PhD students.

Continuing Professional Development

Division members are frequently invited to share their expertise and experience, as faculty members at local, regional, national and international meetings.

Weekly Rounds

A joint weekly clinical conference is held with the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and our Medical Microbiology and Public Health colleagues, on Thursdays between 1100h and 1200h. A weekly journal club is held Mondays from 0815 to 0900h. These rounds are based at the UAH, and are telecast to facilitate the participation of Divisional members at other sites.
