Health and Safety Measures

Your health and safety is our priority

We want you and our campus community to stay safe, so we've implemented strict safety protocols for people eating and working in our dining hall.

Cleaning standards

We follow general safety precautions and high cleaning standards to disinfect common areas and high touch points.

Staff protocols

All our staff will use PPE during their work shift including facial coverings, and we have a strict screening process where employee temperatures are taken daily.

Social distancing and hall capacity

Floor decals, used to direct traffic and seating, are in place to enforce a 2 metre social distance.

Capacity is being monitored to ensure social distance can be maintained. If the dining hall is at its maximum capacity, take out options will be available as an alternative.

Service changes

We have made a few service changes to keep your safety as our top priority.

  • We have paused the use of reusable mugs
  • All stations will be attended by a staff member (no self serve food stations)
  • There will be changes to the condiment station (no bulk or self serve menu items)

Face masks

Face masks are required to enter the dining hall to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Students who forget their mask can purchase a disposable mask for $1.

Hand sanitization

Students are required to sanitize their hands before entering the dining halls and are encouraged to frequently sanitize while dining. Sanitation stations are available at the entrance of the dining hall and throughout the seating area.

Support for isolation

Lister meal plan holders who need to isolate will have their meals delivered to their room. Please e-mail reslife@ualberta.ca for more information.
