Jaylene Evans

Hello hello! My name is Jaylene and I am one of the four food ambassadors this year! I am from Vancouver BC, and I am taking nursing! If you love sandwiches as much as I do I would definitely check out the build your own sandwich station. I also think food puns are as grape as the sandwiches you can get. If you ever have any questions, need to taco about the food options, or have a suggestion to spice up the menu, please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of us. I will be calling the nursing cohort home again this year, so if you have any concerns about the food, nursing or just want to chat about cute animal videos you have seen, feel free to swing by!

Alina Ko

Born in Taipei, Taiwan and raised in Vancouver, Alina is a third-year law school student at U of A with a strong interest in gastronomy. During winter and summer breaks, she often traveled with family and friends to various countries around the globe. Even though she does not consider herself a food critic, often, a major focus of her trips is visiting culinary destinations. Having travelled to 31 countries, Alina finds the difference in culture and dietary habits both intriguing and insightful.

Prior to attending law school at U of A, while obtaining her BA Arts in Communication Media Studies at Simon Fraser University, Alina has been extensively involved in her community. Her involvement in UNICEF SFU and Members of the Parliament Fin Donnelly’s office has allowed her to work closely with her peers and support her local community. These experiences have allowed her to develop strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. During her spare time, Alina enjoys cooking, traveling, hiking, playing piano, practicing yoga and car racing.

Being the PLH Food Ambassador in 2018-2019, Alina had the opportunity to engage with both PLH residents and students from across the campus. Having established a close relationship with the PLH dining hall staff and chefs, she hopes that she can continue to be a strong liaison and better serve the U of A Food Service Committee as well as U of A students!
