IMPORTANT NOTE ON PREREQUISITES AND COURSE SELECTION

When selecting courses, please be sure to check the prerequisites for each course you wish to take. Prerequisites are indicated in the individual course listings in the University of Alberta Calendar. Course prerequisites are in place for a reason: for certain courses, you need background knowledge from lower-level courses. As a result, prerequisites cannot normally be waived unless you have taken equivalent courses at other institutions. It is the student's responsibility to take these prerequisite requirements into account, and to plan his/her academic schedule accordingly. If you register for a course without having the prerequisites, your course registration may be cancelled or you may be denied credit for the course after the fact.
