Become a Mentor!

Want to get valuable volunteer experience on campus and help make the transition of our new to the University of Alberta students the best one yet?

The Education Mentorship Program is a great initiative that offers you opportunities to get involved with the faculty, and you will make a difference in the first-year experiences of our Education students.

What does it mean to be an Education Mentor?

  • Participate in Mentor Training
  • Mentor students new to campus throughout the Fall and Winter semesters
  • Participate in volunteer activities in the faculty such as Open House, Orientation, Registration Workshops, and much more!

Why should you be a mentor?

The Education Mentor Program is a great way to get involved and give back to your campus community. Benefits of being a mentor include:

  • Making a real difference in a student's transition to university
  • Strengthening your leadership skills
  • Gaining a great network of other future educators
  • Volunteer opportunities

Who can apply to be a mentor?

Applicants to the Education Mentor Program are required to be:

  • Attending the Faculty of Education during the academic year in which you are applying to be a mentor
  • In good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA)

Traits that are commonly associated with successful mentor applicants include:

  • Great communication skills
  • Committed to great leadership
  • Passionate about the student experience in the Faculty of Education

We are accepting applications for mentors for the 2020/2021 academic year.
