Assessment Gap for Deaf Children - U of A Research Study Needs Your Help!
Dr. Lynn McQuarrie and the research team at the University of Alberta’s Minerva Deaf Research Lab (MDRL) are conducting a pilot study to evaluate the effectiveness of a newly created American Sign Language (ASL) assessment tool for Deaf children between the ages of 4 to 7. Most of our projects will require participants who are Deaf and who use American Sign Language (ASL).
Join the lab as a Volunteer
We welcome inquiries from those interested in the area of bilingual language development in deaf children, especially U of A students. There are often opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to volunteer in the lab. Students are asked to contribute between two and four hours per week to the lab, according to their schedules. Volunteers often go on to take up independent research projects, or research assistantships in the lab. We are also happy to offer letters of reference for our volunteers.

We are always looking for bright, enthusiastic people to join our research group. We welcome applications from outstanding Master’s and Doctoral students passionate about learning more about bilingual language and literacy development in deaf children.
