The Global Education Team (GET) is composed of a group of graduate and undergraduate students interested in furthering their understandings of global education and building skills to inform their future teaching practices. The team works on various projects, academic presentations and awareness issues throughout the academic year. Building on the unique interests and backgrounds of the team members, our efforts are directed towards developing our understandings of the role of education for local and global awareness of peace, equality, equity, human rights, social justice and environmental justice.
Projects that GET is involved with include the University of Alberta’s International Week, the Faculty of Education Sustainability Project’, Alberta Teachers’ Association’s ‘Global, Environmental and Outdoor Education Council (GEOEC)’ annual conference and holding social justice classroom awareness sessions for pre-service teachers in the Faculty of Education.
We invite all those Education students interested in furthering their understandings of global education to join us at our monthly meetings. Please contact the GET coordinator, Michelle Hawks, for more details or to join the Global Education Team!
