7.2 Research Assistantships (RA)
The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has a limited amount of financial support that it can provide for RA. The duties of a RA are primarily in support of a research program, which may or may not be directly related to the graduate student's thesis projects. Article 9 of the Collective Agreement Governing the Academic Employment of Graduate Students provides guidance for employing graduate students as a RA.
Within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Director of Graduate Studies, Pharmaceutical Sciences Division or the Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies will assign the RA. The RA is provided based on two criteria: 1) financial need of a graduate student that presents significant potential to attract external funding; 2) a top-up amount to 1st year graduate students that are solely supported by their supervisor.
